Sturdevant was reassigned to minor league camp Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The 31-year-old only appeared once this spring, but even a scoreless outing couldn't salvage his spot on the roster. Sturdevant does cause a good number of swing-and-misses (11.3 K/9 at Triple-A last season), but he'll likely be relegated to organizational depth until he keeps the ball in the park better than he did last season (1.4 HR/9).

Sturdevant signed a minor league contract with the A's that includes an invite to spring training, CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander pitched reasonably well in 16 appearances with the Rays (3.93 ERA, 1.31 WHIP), even racking up three holds during the summer months, but it wasn't enough to maintain a spot on the 40-man roster through the end of the season. Sturdevant does not have overpowering stuff but he mixes in four pitches and should be in the conversation for a middle-relief role in the spring.

Sturdevant was designated for assignment Sunday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Rays wanted to add another left-hander to their bullpen the rest of the way, so Sturdevant was dropped from the 40-man roster in order to clear room for southpaw Dana Eveland. Sturdevant had been sent back to Triple-A Durham in late August after accruing a 3.93 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 18.1 innings with the Rays.

Sturdevant was optioned back to Triple-A Durham on Saturday following Nick Franklin's return from the DL, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran reliever's third big league stint of 2016 was particularly brief, with Sturdevant firing just two-thirds of an inning on Thursday versus the Red Sox in his only appearance. The 30-year-old has been serviceable in all three tours of duty with the Rays this season, while generating a 3-2 record and solid 3.03 ERA over 35.2 innings with the Bulls at the Triple-A level.

Sturdevant's third major league stint of 2016 began successfully in Thursday's 2-1 victory over the Red Sox, as he recorded key two strikeouts in the ninth inning.
EDGE Analysis
So much for the 30-year-old getting a soft landing in his return. Sturdevant relieved Erasmo Ramirez to start the ninth and promptly mowed down Hanley Ramirez and Jackie Bradley, Jr. before giving way to Enny Romero, who struck out David Ortiz to end the game. It remains to be seen how long his latest stint with the big league club will be, but given the fact he's been fairly effective when called upon this season, he may stick until the end of the campaign at this point.

Sturdevant was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Wednesday night, Steve Carney of 620 WDAE reports.
EDGE Analysis
After a brief stay in the minors, Sturdevant will add some depth in the bullpen after the Rays were forced to use five relievers Wednesday. The 30-year-old reliever can pitch multiple innings, but is unlikely to take the mound in many high-leverage situations.

Sturdevant was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sturdevant tossed 2.2 scoreless innings during his second stint in the majors this season but it appears the Rays want to clear a spot on the roster for positional depth elsewhere. The 30-year-old relief man will head back to Triple-A ball where he's compiled a 1.27 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 21.1 innings.

Sturdevant was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Monday, freelance Rays writer Roger Mooney reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sturdevant will join the 25-man roster after Desmond Jennings (hamstring) landed on the DL in a corresponding move. The 30-year-old reliever had previously appeared in 13 games with the Rays this season, accruing a 4.80 ERA and 1.53 WHIP over 15 innings. His usage will most likely be limited to lower-leverage situations.

Sturdevant was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Sunday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Rays activating Ryan Webb (pectoral) from the DL, Sturdevant will lose out on his 25-man roster spot and return to the minors. The 30-year-old served in long relief during his first taste of the big leagues, accruing a 4.80 ERA and 12 strikeouts over 15 innings.

Sturdevant turned in an effective long-relief effort in Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Mariners, surrendering three hits and an earned run over three innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old reliever did give up his first career homer, a two-out solo shot by Kyle Seager in the ninth, but was largely effective for the third straight outing otherwise. Sturdevant was called on for some extra work as part of the domino effect of rookie Blake Snell getting shelled early by the Mariners, with the three innings representing the longest outing of his young major league career. He's served as a nice addition to the Rays bullpen after an impressive Triple-A stint prior to his call-up, generating a solid 3.00 ERA over 12 innings to date.
