Lyons (ribs) was activated from the disabled list Tuesday, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It appears Lyons is ready to rejoin the Cardinals after logging three minor-league rehab starts, in which he went 1-1 with a 5.56 ERA and 7:1 K:BB across 11.1 innings. Lyons will rejoin the Cardinals' bullpen for the second time this season; he allowed one run in three innings of work earlier in the season. Sam Tuivailala was optioned to Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding roster move.

Lyons (ribs) threw 58 pitches without setbacks in Saturday's rehab start for Double-A Springfield but will not join the Cardinals for their trip to Los Angeles, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lyons allowed two runs on three hits over five innings while striking out three against Northwest Arkansas, and he got 44 of his 58 offerings into the strike zone. Despite the sharp effort, manager Mike Matheny opted to keep Lyons behind for additional monitoring by the medical staff. For his part, the 29-year-old right-hander reports that he's ready to return to action when called upon. "I think I feel good with where I'm at," Lyons said. "I feel good with my pitches. I think my body is a lot closer to where I wanted it to be. I think it's just one of those things that will keep getting better. But there's no big need for [more] rehab in my opinion."

Lyons (side) is expected to make at least one more rehab start before being reevaluated, Joe Lyons of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. "Tyler Lyons threw yesterday, said he felt good, but said from a performance standpoint felt there were some inconsistencies, so we'll likely have him do one more start Saturday in Springfield,'' general manager John Mozeliak said.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old reliever struggled in his Monday start, giving up a pair of home runs among his six hits over 3.2 innings. Lyons made just two appearances for the Cardinals before suffering his injury, giving up an earned run on one hit over three innings.

Lyons (side) gave up three earned runs on six hits -- including two home runs -- and a walk over 3.2 innings in Triple-A Memphis' 6-4 win over Albuquerque on Monday. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Lyons started the game but didn't factor into the decision, firing 59 pitches overall. The rehabbing 29-year-old surrendered a pair of earned runs in a start for Low-A Peoria last Wednesday as well, so he's pitched to some contact over his two appearances. Lyons could be slated for at least one more appearance with the Redbirds before a return to the Cardinals is considered.

Lyons (side) is expected to make a rehab appearance with Triple-A Memphis in the coming days, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty gave up two runs on four hits over 2.2 innings in a rehab outing with Low-A Peoria on Wednesday, but Lyons said he was encouraged by his performance. It sounds like the plan is for him to move up to the organization's top minor league affiliate for his subsequent appearances as he continues to prepare for a return to the big-league roster.

Lyons (side), who was originally slated to make a rehab start with Low-A Peoria on Wednesday, will instead take the mound for Triple-A Memphis on Thursday, Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lyons has enjoyed success with the Redbirds already this season, having posted a 1.29 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 14:2 K:BB over 14 innings across three starts in a previous rehab stint while recovering from offseason microfracture knee surgery. If all goes well, he could be back with the Cardinals for the upcoming weekend home series versus the Cubs.

Lyons (side) will begin a rehab assignment with Low-A Peoria on Wednesday, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lyons was placed on the disabled list on May 2 for the second time this season, but it seems like his most recent ailment is beginning to subside already. If all goes well in his upcoming rehab start, the southpaw could be activated off the disabled list after the minimum 10 day stint on May 12.

Lyons was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right intercostal strain, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lyons, who spent the first three weeks of the season on the disabled list recovering from right knee surgery, is headed back to the sideline after appearing in just two games for the Cardinals (allowing one run across three innings with a 2:2 K:BB). The 29-year-old is eligible to come off the DL on May 12, though it's unclear if he'll be ready to return to action at that point. In the meantime, right-handed hurler Sam Tuivalala was activated from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Lyons is no longer in consideration to start Monday, MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Saturday's game against the Reds getting rained out, the Cardinals no longer need a sixth starter to fill in, so Michael Wacha will take the ball Monday on regular rest. Lyons should continue to serve as a long man in the Cardinals' bullpen.

Lyons could make a spot start Monday against the Brewers, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
A weather-induced doubleheader this week means regular starter Carlos Martinez would be forced to make his next appearance on short rest, so Lyons provides an alternative option if necessary. The southpaw was originally recalled from Triple-A Memphis this week to provide bullpen depth, but looked sharp in two innings against Toronto on Thursday and has compiled a 1.29 ERA over three minor-league starts this season. It would be Lyons' first big league start since 2015, when he went 3-1 with a 4.10 ERA over eight games for the Cardinals.
