Holton (5-5) took the loss against the Yankees on Thursday, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out two across one frame.
EDGE Analysis
Holton recorded both of his strikeouts in the first inning but also gave up a solo home run to Aaron Judge before being tagged for a second run in the second frame when Jazz Chisholm was brought home by a Ben Rice double. It was Holton's sixth time serving as the Tigers' opener this season, and he now sits at a 4.00 ERA and 1.13 WHIP across 69.2 innings this season.

Holton will serve as the Tigers' opener in Thursday's game against the Yankees, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Holton will receive his sixth opening assignment of the season Thursday and his first since July 2. The 29-year-old southpaw owns a 3.86 ERA and 1.12 WHIP through 67.2 frames on the year, and he likely will remain in the game for just an inning or two before handing the game over to Sawyer Gipson-Long, who is expected to work in a bulk-relief role.

Holton (5-4) allowed two runs on a hit and a walk in two-thirds of an inning to take the loss Saturday against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Holton served up the key hit Saturday, a two-run home run by Bobby Witt in the bottom of the eighth inning that proved to be decisive in a 3-1 Kansas City victory. It wasn't a great matchup for the lefty reliever, as he has better numbers against same-handed hitters, and Witt crushes southpaws to the tune of a .934 OPS. Despite the setback, Holton still has a serviceable 3.84 ERA across 65.2 innings this season, and he remains part of Detroit's high-leverage crew.

Holton tossed 1.1 scoreless innings of relief to earn a hold in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Royals. He allowed a hit and struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Following five innings from starter Chris Paddack and another 1.1 innings from Troy Melton, Holton came on as the bridge to closer Will Vest, with Kyle Finnegan likely unavailable after logging two innings the day before. Holton continued his steady play for the Tigers and recorded his 14th hold of the season, which leads the team. He's not in the mix for saves with Vest and Finnegan around, but the lefty has fantasy appeal in leagues that count holds, and he's also chipped in five wins out of the bullpen for good measure.

Holton (5-3) tossed a scoreless inning of relief with two strikeouts to earn the win in Sunday's 2-1 victory over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Holton's appearance got off to an inauspicious start, as he uncorked a wild pitch that brought home an inherited runner from third and left Tarik Skubal with a no-decision. However, Holton settled down from there and continued his strong play as of late. Over his last 10 outings, the lefty has allowed just two runs across 14.2 innings while striking out 14. As was the case each of the last two years, Holton has emerged as a valuable bullpen weapon for the Tigers.

Holton (4-3) tossed 2.2 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win in Friday's 2-1 victory over the Guardians. He allowed one hit and struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
After starter Reese Olson (finger) logged 4.1 innings in his return from the injured list following about six weeks on the shelf, Holton stepped in and provided valuable relief. The lefty has had a few rough outings this season, but he's now made five straight scoreless appearances (7.2 innings) and has lowered his ERA to a solid 3.86 overall. The 29-year-old has also contributed eight holds to go along with his four wins. Holton is one of Detroit's top bullpen arms with a flexible role, giving him some fantasy value in deeper formats.

Holton will start Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Nationals as an opener, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
It'll be the fifth opener assignment this season for Holton, who has given up five earned runs across 5.1 frames in those outings. The left-hander has otherwise been an effective relief option for Detroit with a 3.66 ERA and 24:8 K:BB across 24 innings while recording three wins and eight holds.

Holton (3-3) worked around a hit to toss a scoreless inning of relief and earn the win in Sunday's 9-3 victory over the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Holton replaced starter Casey Mize a batter into the sixth inning, as the latter departed the game due to right leg cramping. Holton then picked up the win out of the bullpen when the Tigers piled on eight runs over the last three innings of the contest to break open a close game. The lefty had allowed three runs in his last appearance and entered the game with a 7.45 ERA this month. After the improved outing Sunday, Holton now has a 4.58 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 30 strikeouts across 35.1 innings this season.

Keider Montero is likely to absorb the bulk of the innings out of the bullpen. It will be the fourth opener assignment this season for Holton, who has allowed two runs with a 5:0 K:BB over four innings in his first three tries.

EDGE Analysis
Horton will work as an opener for the third time this season after doing so nine times in 2024. The left-hander has surrendered five earned runs in his past five outings and has a 4.22 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 28:8 K:BB across 32 innings this season. Sawyer Gipson-Long is expected to follow him in bulk relief Sunday.
