Giants optioned OF Tyler Colvin to Triple-A Fresno. Colvin had a good chance to make the team as a reserve infielder/outfielder, but the 28-year-old batted just .212 in Cactus League play. He'll report to Triple-A and could find himself back in San Francisco later this year.

Tyler Colvin went 2-for-4 with a solo home run as the Giants fell to the Angels 11-4 on Monday. Colvin took Kevin Jepsen deep for a solo shot in the eighth inning, his second of the spring. Colvin is battling Juan Perez to be the club's fifth outfielder. CSN Bay Area's Andrew Baggarly suggests the club should choose Perez over Colvin for multiple reasons including Perez's comparatively good spring and defensive prowess, as well as Colvin's lingering back issues.

Giants signed OF Tyler Colvin to a minor league contract. The deal includes an invitation to major league spring training. The 28-year-old outfielder spent the majority of the 2013 campaign at Triple-A Colorado Springs where he slashed .275/.377/.480 with nine homers, 32 RBI and six steals in 67 games. He'll compete for a reserve role in the Giants outfield.

Troy Renck of the Denver Post hears that there's a "good chance" Tyler Colvin will still wind up signing with the Orioles. The O's and Colvin agreed to terms last month on a major league deal, but it was nixed after the outfielder failed the team's in-depth physical. Baltimore is now only willing to offer him a minor league deal, but it appears Colvin might take it. The 28-year-old is coming off a disastrous 2013 season, but he was terrific in 2012, batting .290/.327/.531 with 18 home runs in 420 at-bats for the Rockies.

Tyler Colvin is weighing several minor league offers, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal. Colvin lost a major league contract with the Orioles after Baltimore's medical staff found something they didn't like during his physical. The outfielder/first baseman enjoyed a nice 2012 season in which he hit .290/.327/.531 with 18 home runs in 420 at-bats, but he struggled to be effective in the majors last season, hitting only .160 with three home runs and 10 RBI while striking out 27 times over 75 at-bats for the Rockies.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Orioles are only willing to give Tyler Colvin a minor league contract after discovering a back issue during his physical. Colvin has yet to accept the minor league deal, so he remains a free agent. He could wind up still signing with the O's but seems likely to see if he can get a guaranteed deal somewhere else first. Given the thoroughness of Baltimore's physicals, it's possible other teams' doctors won't find anything wrong with Colvin's back.

A source tells ESPN's Jerry Crasnick that the Orioles are claiming there are issues with Tyler Colvin's physical. It explains why no deal has been announced after Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reported the two sides had an agreement in place on January 15. This is nothing new for the Orioles, a team notorious for it scrutiny of physicals, as they voided a deal with reliever Grant Balfour earlier this offseason for a similar reason. Crasnick reported another source as saying the outfielder has been hitting, throwing and working out five days a week in Arizona without issue. Stay tuned.

The Orioles and Tyler Colvin have agreed to a deal, a source tells Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun. The deal is a major league deal and is pending a physical. The outfielder/first baseman enjoyed a nice 2012 season in which he hit .290/.327/.531 with 18 home runs in 420 at-bats, but he struggled to be effective at the major league level last season. He'll serve as bench depth for the Orioles.

Tyler Colvin has elected free agency. Colvin hit only .160 with three home runs and 10 RBI while striking out 27 times over 75 at-bats for the Rockies this season. He'll catch on somewhere, though, possibly even on a major league deal as a bench bat.
