The Rockies have fired hitting coach Carney Lansford. It's possible none of the Rockies' coaches will return following former skipper Jim Tracy's resignation. The Rox led the National League in batting average and were third in home runs, but that wasn't enough for Lansford to keep his job. Understandably, whoever is hired as the new manager will likely be allowed to bring all of his own guys aboard.

The Rockies will not have a decision on manager Jim Tracy's future until Monday at the earliest. According to the Denver Post, the Rockies remain interested in bringing Tracy back for the final year of his contract, but it's unclear if changes being made to his coaching staff are a sticking point. If Tracy returns, he would almost certainly be giving up full control of managing the team, and likely won't be involved in roster decisions.

Rockies manager Jim Tracy is meeting with director of major league operations Bill Geivett Friday to find out whether he will be retained for 2013. Tracy is under contract for next season, and there have been indications that he will return, but it's not a given after the Rockies finished with a franchise-worst 98 losses in 2012. If Tracy is brought back, the Rockies seem likely to make him fire some of his coaches.

Troy Tulowitzki (groin) will not rejoin the Rockies during the final series of the season. Tulo has participated in a few instructional league games and was hoping to make a late-season return to the bigs, but he'll instead stay in instructs for now. He hit a home run in a game Monday, and all signs point to his groin not being an issue next spring.

Troy Tulowitzki (groin) played five innings in instructional ball on Saturday that went well, but he remains unsure of the next step in his recovery. He'll likely work out again on Sunday before being re-evaluated when the Rockies arrive in Phoenix on Monday. There's a chance that he could still make an appearance over the final three games of the season, but it's certainly not a guarantee.

Troy Tulowitzki (groin) will play in an instructional league game Saturday in Arizona. We previously heard that he would play Sunday, but there are no instructional league games that day. The new plan calls for him to work out Sunday before being evaluated when the Rockies arrive in Phoenix on Monday. There's a chance he could play in one of the final three games of the regular season, but he might also finish out the season in the instructional league.

Troy Tulowitzki (groin) is scheduled to begin playing in instrcutional league games on Sunday. If the games go well, he could be activated during the Rockies' final regular-season series against the Diamondbacks. But Troy Renck of the Denver Post says there's also a chance that Tulo will simply finish out the season in instructs. The 28-year-old shortstop has been out since May 30 with a groin injury.

Troy Tulowitzki (groin) will not be activated from the disabled list Friday. It's no surprise, as the Rockies have been aiming to get him back for the final week of the season. Tulo will work out with the team Friday, and Troy Renck of the Denver Post says it's possible the shortstop could be activated sometime during the homestand, which ends on September 27.

Troy Tulowitzki (groin) is aiming to return to the Rockies' lineup for the final week of the season. Tulo would then play in some instructional league games in Arizona in October. The shortstop tested out his groin in a few rehab games, but he's still not quite 100 percent. It's still possible the Rockies could change their mind and just shut him down, as they won't put him at risk if he's not yet totally healthy. "As an organization, they have stressed how important it is to get back out there going into the offseason. I understand that. But it would only be fair that they can put a player out there who's 100 percent," Tulowitzki said. "I think they are thinking about their offseason moves as well. If I am not 100 percent, even though all signs point that I will be, would that change what kind of player they go after in the winter?" Tulo, who turns 28 next month, said at this point he's not considering a move off of shortstop in order to lessen the chance of injury.
