Bauer would prefer to pitch in a four-man rotation, or at least pitch every four days, and that's an option on the table for the Reds, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. "I've got that as being 100 percent on the table, especially in the shortened season," pitching coach Derek Johnson said. "That's something he really wants to do, and he thinks he would thrive in that environment. I know there's questions behind that. At the same time, I think we're in the situation to do it. I trust Trevor. I trust what kind of work he puts in, invests in himself, and I think if he feels he can do it, I think he can."
EDGE Analysis
As Sheldon's article elaborates, it wouldn't be a true four-man rotation, but rather one that only Bauer would be working every four days, if the Reds choose to go that route. It's one of a handful of creative options the Reds are considering in this sprint season.

Bauer went four innings against the Angels on Sunday, allowing one run on one hit (a home run to Arismendy Alcantara), striking out four while walking one, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After the outing, Bauer declared himself ready for the season to begin. "I'm able to command all my pitches, the velo is there and I'm recovering well. My prep is good. I was 94-95 [mph] today with basically no adrenaline. All of my stuff is sharp." Bauer has had a superb spring, giving up one run over nine innings and striking out eight against just one walk.

Bauer threw two scoreless innings against the Diamondbacks on Thursday in his spring training debut, striking out two without allowing a hit or a walk.
EDGE Analysis
Bauer was really efficient in this outing, throwing 17 of his 23 pitches in the strike zone. While being careful not to conclude too much out of a February spring training outing, it's worth watching Bauer's command this spring, and this was a good start.

Bauer signed a one-year, $17.5 million contract with the Reds on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old required arbitration hearings each of the past two seasons in Cleveland, but he was able to avoid a hearing with Cincinnati. It's Bauer's final year before hitting free agency, and he'll look to rebound from an inconsistent 2019 in which he had a 4.48 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 253:82 K:BB across 213 innings between the Indians and Reds.

Bauer won't make Sunday's scheduled start at Pittsburgh as he continues to battle an illness, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bauer was originally slated to start Saturday before having the outing pushed back a day, but he's apparently still not well enough to pitch in the season finale. The 28-year-old finishes the season with a 4.48 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 253:82 K:BB across 213 frames in 34 starts between the Reds and the Indians.

Bauer's next start has been pushed to Sunday due to an illness, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bauer was originally scheduled to start Saturday before coming down with the illness. He's compiled a 4.48 ERA and 253 strikeouts in 34 starts (213 innings) and will look to finish the season on a high note Sunday.

Bauer (11-13) gave up five runs on six hits and no walks while striking out eight through seven innings to take the loss against the Mets on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
It was a mixed bag of a results for Bauer, striking out eight and registering 15 swinging strikes through seven frames, but he also allowed five runs including two home runs. The 28-year-old has a 4.48 ERA and 253 strikeouts through 34 starts this season. Bauer is scheduled to make his next start Saturday against the Pirates at PNC Park.

Bauer (2-4) earned the win against Arizona on Sunday, completing eight innings and giving up one run on four hits and one walk while striking out nine.
EDGE Analysis
Bauer was dominant in picking up his second victory since joining Cincinnati at the trade deadline, tossing first-pitch strikes to 20 of 29 batters while limiting the Diamondbacks to a third-inning run. After a string of three starts in which he gave up 17 earned runs in 12 innings, Bauer has turned things around to surrender only three runs while racking up 17 strikeouts in 14.1 innings over his last two outings. He'll have a home matchup against the Mets on Saturday in his next scheduled start.

Bauer did not factor into the decision against Seattle on Tuesday, hurling 6.1 innings and giving up two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out eight.
EDGE Analysis
Bauer held the Mariners scoreless through four innings before serving up a solo home run to Kyle Lewis in the fifth inning and another to Dylan Moore in the sixth. It was the third straight start in which Bauer has given up two homers, and he is now tied for fifth in the majors with 32 long balls allowed this season. The 28-year-old has been a colossal disappointment since coming over from Cleveland at the trade deadline, posting a 7.40 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and .287 BAA in eight outings. He'll head to Arizona to take on the Diamondbacks on Sunday in his next scheduled start.

Bauer didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 8-5 win over the Phillies, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks over five innings while striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander got spotted a 5-0 lead after two innings and seemed to be on cruise control, but Bauer fell apart in the fifth, coughing up all four of his runs including homers by J.T. Realmuto and Logan Morrison, and the Cincy bullpen lost the lead in the seventh. Bauer now has an 8.23 ERA through seven starts with the Reds, but Wednesday's effort at least ended his four-start losing streak.
