Turner helped the Nationals secure the series sweep with his go-ahead homer in the sixth inning. It was just his second homer of the season -- and his first since March 31 -- but Turner has been hitting the ball hard this season, so there's reason to believe that his homers will start to come. He's now hitting a solid .281/.374/.398 with 16 runs and 12 stolen bases through 32 games.

Turner went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Monday's win over the Pirates.

It's his fourth multi-hit performance in the last week, and Turner now boasts a .284/.381/.379 slash line through 29 games with only one homer and seven RBI, but 14 runs and 12 steals in 12 attempts. The 24-year-old power numbers are down, but his current 39.1 percent hard-hit rate would be a career high, so don't be surprised if the home runs come over the summer.

Turner went 5-for-6 with a double, two runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 15-2 rout of the Giants.

He now has four multi-hit performances in his last eight games, pushing his slash line on the season up to .267/.362/.366. Turner's 10 steals in 10 attempts have been driving his fantasy value so far, but Wednesday's big performance could be a sign his bat is about to catch fire as well.

Turner has been given a green light to run whenever he wants by manager Dave Martinez unless he's been specifically told to stay put, Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post reports.

Martinez's faith in his shortstop's ability on the basepaths has been rewarded, as Turner notched his ninth steal in nine attempts during Monday's loss to the Giants. Teammate Michael Taylor is enjoying the same privilege, and between the two of them they've led the Nats to the top of MLB with 27 stolen bases -- six more than the second-place White Sox -- and their overall 84.4 percent success rate also ranks the team among the league leaders. Turner set a career high with 46 steals in 98 games last year, but his current pace would see him shatter that mark.

Turner's first double came off of Mets starter Zack Wheeler in the first, and the second he hit off of reliever Gerson Bautista in the ninth. The multihit showing brings Turner's season average up to .250, and the stolen base brings his total to eight (in eight attempts). The young shortstop has played in all 18 games for the Nationals, and his newfound ability to take walks (15 walks already this year) makes his value as a base-stealer and run-scorer even more intriguing.

He's now tied with Dee Gordon for the MLB lead in steals with seven. Turner's luck on balls in play has been poor so far -- he sports a .219 batting average fueled by a .265 BABIP that's 80 points lower than his career average -- but he'll still maintained a .359 OBP thanks to a career-high 17.9 percent walk rate, giving him plenty of opportunities to do damage on the basepaths. Once base hits start falling in for the 24-year-old, his overall fantasy value should skyrocket.

Turner is leading off Thursday's contest against the Rockies.

With Adam Eaton (ankle) sidelined, Turner will take a turn hitting atop the order. He and Brian Goodwin seem like the logical leadoff candidates while Eaton is out, which could give them greater run-scoring opportunities while hitting ahead of Anthony Rendon and Bryce Harper.

Turner is batting second Tuesday against the Braves.

EDGE Analysis

Through the first 10 games of the season, Turner has only hit sixth or leadoff -- the latter of which only occurred when Adam Eaton was out. The speedy shortstop will now take a spot in the top third of the order, potentially opening up more run-scoring opportunities for him while he's hitting ahead of Bryce Harper and Anthony Rendon.
