Pirates designated 1B Travis Ishikawa for assignment. With Friday's acquisition of Ike Davis, Ishikawa became expendable for the Pirates. With his power potential, he could generate interest from other teams, but may have to work things out at Triple-A before getting another shot in the big leagues.

Travis Ishikawa will need a couple days of rest in Pirates camp due to tightness in his right leg. It's not believed to be a serious injury. Ishikawa signed a minor league contract with the Pirates in December and is trying to claim an Opening Day bench spot.

Ishikawa, 30, got a cup of coffee with both the Yankees and Orioles this season and batted .290/.389/.465 with nine homers in 83 contests at Triple-A.

White Sox signed 1B Travis Ishikawa to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Charlotte. Ishikawa was designated for assignment by the Yankees on July 11 after spending just three days in pinstripes. He has posted some nice numbers this year at the Triple-A level and should climb to Chicago eventually.
