Tony Pena (elbow) hopes to resume throwing next week. Pena had Tommy John surgery in August of 2011 and hasn't thrown since suffering a setback this past October. The 31-year-old right-hander will not start the season on time.

Angels GM Jerry Dipoto said Thursday that Tony Pena (elbow) will not be ready for the start of the season. "He's a guy we're not going to count on being 100 percent when spring training begins," Dipoto told the Orange County Register. Pena had Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in August 2011 and hasn't fully recovered.
