Tom Gorzelanny (shoulder) remains hopeful that he'll return to the Brewers before the end of the 2013 season. The veteran southpaw has been on the shelf since September 2 when he was forced out of a relief appearance due to inflammation in his rotator cuff. The only throwing that he has done since suffering the injury has been on flat ground in the outfield.

Tom Gorzelanny (shoulder) will be examined by head team physician Dr. William Raasch on Wednesday. Gorzelanny said his left shoulder felt "not quite right" in a start last week, and he then had an early exit from a relief appearance Monday. On Wednesday, the lefty gave up nine hits and a walk. The loss moved him to 3-6 with a 3.80 ERA for the year. The same two teams will get together in Gorzelanny's next start Monday in Milwaukee.

Tom Gorzelanny was tagged for seven runs and 10 hits in 3 2/3 innings by the Cardinals on Wednesday. Gorzy was doing nice work against lesser teams, but he's been roughed up by contenders his last two times out. After facing the Reds and Cards in consecutive starts, he'll get the Pirates next time out. That's a better matchup, but he's a borderline play in NL-only leagues.

Tom Gorzelanny was touched up for five runs over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Reds on Friday. Gorzelanny needed 37 pitches just to make it through the first inning, so it was clear he wasn't going to last long in this one. All told, the southpaw allowed six hits (including two homers) and three walks while notching five strikeouts. His ERA jumped from 2.51 to 2.95 with the clunker. Things don't get any easier next week with a tough matchup against the Cardinals.

Tom Gorzelanny blanked the Mariners for seven innings in the Brewers' 10-0 victory Saturday. Gorzelanny has a 2.61 ERA in 31 innings since joining the Brewers' rotation. If he keeps this up, the Brewers could cash him in for a prospect later this month.
