The Mets optioned Nido to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Mets acquiring Devin Mesoraco from the Reds on Tuesday and presumably prepared to install him as their primary catcher, there wasn't room on the active roster for Nido. The 24-year-old had been splitting time with Jose Lobaton behind the plate since Kevin Plawecki (hand) and Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) hit the disabled list, but failed to make much of an impact offensively, hitting just .135/.179/.162 across 39 plate appearances.

Nido will start at catcher and bat eighth Sunday against the Padres, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite having their top two backstops in Kevin Plawecki (hand) and Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) on the disabled list, the Mets have thus far resisted looking outside the organization for help at catcher. That has allowed Nido to stick on the active roster for the past three weeks, with the 24-year-old working in a timeshare with veteran Jose Lobaton behind the plate. Both players have hit under .150 during their stints with the Mets, however, so it will be difficult to rely on either for much aid even in NL-only formats, especially while the duo continues to split time in relatively even fashion.

Nido is in no danger of getting bumped off the 25-man roster for now as the Mets are not pursuing a trade for another catcher, Kristie Ackert of The New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old was called up from Double-A Binghamton after injuries sidelined Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) and Kevin Plawecki (hand), leaving Nido as the backup to veteran Jose Lobaton. While Nido has shown flashes of offensive upside in the low minors and was hitting .278 (5-for-18) for the Rumble Ponies before his promotion, he's likely to head back down once Plawecki is ready to return to action in a couple of weeks -- although he does still have a small window in which to impress the Mets enough to keep him in the majors instead of Lobaton as Plawecki's backup.

Nido was called up to the big leagues Wednesday to replace the injured Travis D'Arnaud (elbow), Tim Britton of The Athletic New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
D'Arnaud has a partially torn UCL which could require Tommy John surgery, in which case Nido could be in the majors for a long time. The 23-year-old has an unremarkable profile and doesn't project to be much more than a backup catcher. He went 3-for-10 in a brief stint in the majors last season, but spent the majority of the year at Double-A Binghamton, where he hit .232/.287/.354 in 404 plate appearances.

Nido was optioned to minor-league camp Friday, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
This comes as no surprise, as Travis d'Arnaud and Kevin Plawecki are firmly entrenched as the Mets' top two catchers and Nido has yet to play at Triple-A. He will likely head to the Pacific Coast League for the minor-league season and then join the big-league club when rosters expand in September.

Nido was recalled from Double-A Binghamton on Tuesday, James Wagner of The New York Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nido will get his first taste of the majors now that Binghamton's season is over. The 23-year-old backstop slashed .232/.287/.354 with eight homers and 60 RBI in 102 games for the Rumble Ponies prior to his promotion. Nido -- who was featured in the Futures Game earlier in the year -- is known more for his plate discipline (14.9 percent strikeout rate) and strong defensive profile, so he isn't expected to make much of a fantasy impact down he stretch. While he'll likely see an occasional start, this is primarily a learning opportunity for the Mets' top catching prospect.

Nido went 2-for-2 with two RBI during the World Team's 7-6 loss to Team USA in the All-Star Futures Game on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
He subbed in for starting catcher Francisco Mejia in the sixth inning and made his playing time count, collecting RBI singles in the seventh and ninth. Nido, the Mets' No. 11 prospect, hasn't been able to repeat last year's offensive breakout and is slashing just .246/.281/.384 in 60 games for Double-A Binghamton thanks to a .257 BABIP, but he has maintained the gains he showed in his plate discipline with an 11.6 percent strikeout rate. Given his strong defensive profile, he's still got the potential to be more than just a backup in the big leagues.

Nido was optioned to the minor leagues Friday.
EDGE Analysis
After winning the FSL batting title last year and then getting added to the 40-man roster, Nido will likely begin this season at Double-A Binghamton. The Mets have enough catching depth to let him keep developing in the minors, but another solid campaign with the bat could put the 22-year-old in line to make his major league debut in 2018.

Nido was added to the Mets' 40-man roster on Friday, ESPN's Adam Rubin reports.
EDGE Analysis
He won the Florida State League batting title in 2016 by hitting .320 with just an 11.4 percent strikeout rate in 90 games, and in doing so forced the Mets to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. Nido also showed some pop, hitting seven home runs and slugging .459 in an environment that suppresses power. It was a surprising season for the pop-up prospect, but given how barren the landscape at the position is in the minors, Nido is worth tracking in 2017.
