Rivera (elbow) may not be back on the field until the middle of the year after undergoing Tommy John surgery in September, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets hadn't provided a timeline for Rivera's recovery up to this point, but it appears as though he will miss the first couple months of the 2018 season while healing from the surgery, according to general manager Sandy Alderson. The utility man will be reevaluated on a consistent basis once spring training rolls around, so there should be further updates on his status during that time.

Rivera successfully underwent Tommy John surgery Thursday, James Wagner of The New York Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rivera underwent the procedure to help repair a partially torn UCL in his right elbow. While he remains without a recovery timeline, he's expected to be sidelined into the start of next season. The 28-year-old finished his 2017 campaign with a respectable .290/.330/.430 line with five homers in 73 games.

Rivera (elbow) will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery this week, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tommy John surgery seemed like a distinct outcome for Rivera when he was first diagnosed with a partially torn UCL in his right elbow back in late July, but the utility man first opted to treat the injury through rest and rehab. After a month of rehab, however, it became clear that Rivera wasn't progressing as well as he had hoped, so he'll now elect to go under the knife to remedy the issue. A recovery timeline should be established after the procedure, and while position players don't need as much time to heal up from Tommy John surgery as pitchers do, Rivera will still likely be sidelined for the start of the 2018 campaign.

Rivera (elbow) will be reexamined in New York before the end of the week, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
There hasn't been much word regarding a timetable with Rivera, but he will receive an update later on this week after spending the past month on the disabled list with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. He was able to start baseball activities a few weeks ago, but has not progressed enough to go on a rehab outing. A definitive timetable should come into focus once Rivera is evaluated.

Rivera (elbow) was able to resume light baseball activity earlier this week, the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rather than undergoing a season-ending Tommy John procedure to address a partial tear in his right elbow, Rivera elected to treat the injury with platelet-rich plasma injections. At least thus far in the rehab process, it appears the treatment method has paid dividends, as Rivera hasn't experienced any reported setbacks while he's began to work out again. It's still unlikely that Rivera will come off the disabled list before the end of August, but the Mets now seem optimistic that he'll be back in action before the campaign concludes.

Rivera (elbow) received a PRP injection Friday, which could determine the necessity for Tommy John surgery, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets are obviously hopeful that the young infielder will be able to avoid Tommy John surgery at all costs, but trainers will see how he reacts to the initial injection before making a firm decision. Rivera was placed on the DL with a partial UCL tear Friday after missing the past few games with an unknown arm issue.

Rivera was placed on the 10-day disabled list Friday with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
EDGE Analysis
Rivera sat out the past couple days due to arm soreness, but apparently the issue at hand was much worse than the team initially thought. The infielder received a PRP injection to help move the healing process along, but it seems like he'll be out at least until mid-August. A firm timetable for his return hasn't been revealed, however. Neil Walker will take his place on the active roster.

Rivera is not in the lineup Thursday against the Padres due to a minor arm injury, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With regular first baseman Lucas Duda traded prior to Thursday's ballgame, it was surprising that Rivera was not included in the starting lineup, although it appears that the injury is largely responsible for that. No word has come forth as to what the actual injury is, so consider him day-to-day for the time being. Jay Bruce will man first base for the evening, although Rivera certainly could pick up some starts there moving forward once he's healthy again.

Rivera is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Rivera holds a modest five-game hit streak, although only one of his hits in that span have gone for extra bases. He'll sit out for the second time during the San Diego series, allowing Wilmer Flores to pick up another start at second base to replace him.

Rivera is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Though he's collected five hits in his previous four starts, Rivera will receive the day off as the Mets take on Clayton Richard and the Padres. Wilmer Flores will draw the start at the keystone and bat fifth.
