Tim Stauffer got beaten back to the stone age in Friday's 8-7 win over the Angels, allowing five runs on 11 hits and two walks in just 2 2/3 innings.
He fanned just one, and served up a solo home run to prospect Jean Segura. The nightmare day ballooned Stauffer's spring ERA from an already ugly 9.00 to 12.15. It's hardly ideal, but of little concern coming off Stauffer's strong 2011. That being said, he's unlikely to equal the 3.73 ERA he posted across 185 2/3 innings last season.

The Padres and RHP Tim Stauffer avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.2 million contract.
He was arbitration-eligible for the second time this winter. Stauffer, 29, had a solid 3.73 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 185 2/3 innings last season for the Padres while earning $1.075 million.

Tim Stauffer (forearm) will throw a bullpen session Saturday.
If the session goes well, he could be cleared to start on Tuesday. Stauffer's last outing was skipped due to tightness in his right forearm, but the ailment is considered minor. He'd be shooting for win No. 10 if he does get the nod.

Tim Stauffer (forearm) will not make his scheduled start Wednesday after all.
Stauffer left Friday's outing with tightness in his right forearm but was expected to be good to go for his next outing. Apparently the Padres have decided to play it safe, though, and will start Anthony Bass instead. Stauffer is expected to pitch again this season.

Tim Stauffer (forearm) is expected to make his next start.
Stauffer left Friday's outing with tightness in his right forearm, but it's evidently something he's dealt with a few times this season and the Padres don't seem to be worried. The right-hander has been hit-or-miss over the last month but spun 6 2/3 scoreless innings before being removed Friday. He has to pitch in Colorado next Wednesday but will then close the year with a favorable matchup at home against the Cubs.

Tim Stauffer was diagnosed with right arm stiffness.
This is a pretty vague diagnosis, so hopefully we'll hear about his status following the game. Stauffer tossed 6 2/3 shutout innings before leaving Friday's game.

Tim Stauffer left Friday's game against the Diamondbacks in the top of the seventh inning with an apparent injury.
The exact nature of the injury isn't yet known. He allowed four hits and struck out six over 6 2/3 shutout innings before being replaced by Anthony Bass. We'll pass along an update on his status when it is made available.

Tim Stauffer was rocked for seven runs over 1 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Dodgers.
And the topper? Stauffer managed to allow seven runs while giving up one hit. Instead, he walked seven batters, six of which came in a nightmare second inning, the topper of which was walking Hiroki Kuroda with the bases loaded. Anthony Bass relieved Stauffer and promptly gave up a grand slam, adding three runs to the starter's ledger. His ERA jumped all the way from 3.42 to 3.76 in this one. The Padres said before this start that they weren't concerned with Stauffer's workload (he entered at 166 innings, which put him on pace to double his workload from the majors and minors in 2010), but perhaps they'll change their tune after this one.

Tim Stauffer held the Giants to just two runs on six hits on Wednesday evening, but got stuck with a hard-luck loss in San Diego's 2-1 setback in San Francisco.
He struck out one and walked none. Stauffer's only real mistake came in the fourth, where he served up a solo home run to Carlos Beltran. Now the owner of a 3.42 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 114/43 K/BB ratio through 166 innings, Stauffer will get the Dodgers in Los Angeles his next time out.

Tim Stauffer pitched the Padres to a win by allowing one run over seven innings against the Marlins on Thursday night.
A John Buck homer in the seventh accounted for the only damage. It was a nice turnaround for Stauffer, who gave up a remarkable eight homers in his previous two starts. He's 8-9 with a 3.43 ERA this year.
