Hatch cleared waivers Thursday and elected free agency, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hatch lost his place on Minnesota's 40-man roster after posting a 5.45 ERA and 1.67 WHIP over 33 innings upon joining the club in August. He'll likely aim to sign a minor-league deal this winter.

Hatch made his most recent appearance in long relief during Saturday's 7-3 loss to the White Sox, striking out five over five innings while allowing three hits and no walks.
EDGE Analysis
After tossing five innings of one-run ball in a winning effort over the Tigers in his first start of the season back on Aug. 17, Hatch shifted back to the bullpen last weekend while the Twins added a pair of trade-deadline pickups -- Mick Abel and Taj Bradley -- into the rotation. With Abel getting tagged for six runs over three innings Saturday in his team debut, Hatch effectively piggybacked him in the outing, even though that wasn't necessarily the Twins' plan heading into the day. Neither Abel nor Bradley are guaranteed second turns through the rotation, but in spite of his strong performance Saturday, Hatch could end up sticking in the bullpen moving forward. The Twins will get another starter in Simeon Woods Richardson (illness) back from the injured list to start Wednesday's game in Toronto, and Pablo Lopez (shoulder) could be ready to come off the IL next week to further bolster the rotation.

Hatch (2-0) earned the win Sunday over the Tigers, allowing a run on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Hatch, making his first start this season, was impressive against a Detroit team that had scored 15 runs in their previous two games. In 13.2 innings with Minnesota, Hatch has pitched to a 3.29 ERA with a 1.54 WHIP and 9:11 K:BB. The 30-year-old right-hander could get another look in the rotation while Simeon Woods Richardson (illness) and Matt Festa (shoulder) are sidelined. Hatch would tentatively line up for a road matchup with the White Sox in his next outing.

Hatch is slated to start Sunday's game against the Tigers at Target Field, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Minnesota will have a couple of holes in its rotation until Simeon Woods Richardson (illness) and Pablo Lopez (shoulder) return from the injured list, and Hatch will fill one of those vacancies Sunday. The right-hander should be able to provide the Twins with some length after making two 4.1-inning bulk-relief appearances since Aug. 6. Between his stops with the Twins and Royals this season, Hatch owns a 5.59 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 6:8 K:BB in 9.2 innings over three outings.

Hatch didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Yankees, allowing four runs on five hits and seven walks in 4.1 innings. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
With several Twins starters on the injured list, Hatch was tasked with eating some innings as a long reliever but struggled mightily to find the plate. The 30-year-old right-hander tossed just 51 of his 99 pitches for strikes Tuesday, and the seven walks issued set a career-worst mark. Hatch has a 5.59 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 6:8 K:BB over his first 9.2 innings. He'll carry minimal fantasy appeal in his next appearance, which is tentatively projected for this weekend in Detroit.

Hatch (1-0) earned the win against the Tigers on Wednesday, allowing two hits and one walk with three strikeouts over 4.1 scoreless innings.
EDGE Analysis
Hatch was excellent in bulk relief, throwing 38 of 56 pitches for strikes while limiting the Tigers to just two singles. The 30-year-old gave up two runs in a one-inning outing for the Royals on Friday and had posted a 4.22 ERA with a 78:28 K:BB over 91.2 innings at Triple-A Omaha. Though he's made just two major-league appearances this season, Wednesday's performance likely earned him another look with the Twins.

The Twins claimed Hatch off waivers from the Royals on Monday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hatch will officially join the Twins' active roster Tuesday before their game in Detroit. The right-hander has spent nearly all of the 2025 season at the Triple-A level, posting a 4.22 ERA and 78:28 K:BB over 91.2 innings covering 18 starts. Hatch could be used either in the Twins' rotation or in long relief.

The Royals designated Hatch for assignment Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Hatch will be jettisoned from the Royals' 40-man roster after giving up two run in one inning during his season debut Friday. Jonathan Bowlan was also optioned off the active roster Saturday to make room for Ryan Bergert and Bailey Falter.

Hatch is expected to be used in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Angel Zerpa in Wednesday's game against Atlanta, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Zerpa will likely be limited to one or two innings before turning the game over to the bullpen, and Hatch represents the freshest arm among Kansas City's relief options. Hatch had been serving as a full-time member of the Triple-A Omaha rotation prior to being called up Tuesday, notching a 4.22 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 78:28 K:BB in 91.2 innings over 18 starts. The right-hander will be available on three days' rest, though he handled a relatively light workload of 2.1 innings in his final start with Omaha on Saturday prior to his promotion.

The Royals selected Hatch's contract from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Hatch will give the Royals' bullpen some length after Rich Hill lasted just four innings in Monday's loss to Atlanta. The righty is also a candidate to start later this week after Hill was removed from the 40-man roster Tuesday. Hatch holds a 4.22 ERA and 78:28 K:BB over 91.2 innings covering 18 starts with Omaha in 2025.
