Antone said Wednesday his elbow is "feeling great" and he will resume throwing next week.
EDGE Analysis
Antone has been sidelined since undergoing Tommy John surgery in August 2021 and then suffering a flexor strain in January. There remains no timetable for when the 29-year-old reliever could rejoin Cincinnati's bullpen, but it certainly is a step in the right direction.

Antone (elbow) was placed on the 60-day injured list Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Antone missed all of 2022 following Tommy John surgery and then suffered a flexor strain this past winter. There is no clear timetable for when he might be ready to join the Reds' bullpen.

Antone (elbow) will miss the start of the 2023 season, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Antone made the announcement on his instagram account, and said that he recently received a PRP injection for a flexor strain in his right elbow that will keep him out for the first half of the year. The 29-year-old had been slowed during the offseason as he recovers from Tommy John surgery that forced him to miss the entire 2022 season, and this latest setback will see his 2023 debut occur after Opening Day. When healthy, Antone has been an excellent relief option, and once recovered, he should be a high-leverage option for the Reds.

Antone's offseason throwing program has been slowed by a right forearm injury, per MLB.com's Mark Sheldon.
EDGE Analysis
The good news is that the issue is not thought to be related to Antone's elbow, which required Tommy John surgery more than two years ago and gave him a lot of trouble in the aftermath. The 29-year-old reliever will be eased into action at Reds camp this spring with the hope that he might be ready to be used in high-leverage situations at some point in the early part of the 2023 season. Antone posted a 2.48 ERA with 87 strikeouts over his first 69 major league innings between 2020-2021.

Antone (elbow) signed a one-year, $770,000 contract with the Reds on Friday to avoid arbitration, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Antone missed the entirety of 2022 due to recovery from Tommy John surgery, but back-to-back seasons with a sub-3.00 ERA between 2020-21 is more than enough for the Reds to keep him around. He will likely have to slowly work back into high-leverage, major-league situations, but if he's able to return to pre-Tommy John form, he could emerge as a candidate to take over as the Reds' closer by the end of the season.

Antone (elbow) is throwing at about 85 miles per hour during his most recent flat-ground sessions at the Reds' extended spring training facility in Arizona, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old's average fastball velocity typically sat around 95 to 97 miles per hour in 2021, so he still has a considerable amount of ramping up to do in the months to come. After Antone underwent Tommy John surgery in late August of the last season, the Reds likely aren't counting on him pitching in the minors or majors in 2022.

Antone (elbow) was placed on the 60-day injured list Saturday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Antone underwent Tommy John surgery in late August and is expected to miss most or all of the 2022 campaign, so his placement on the 60-day IL isn't surprising. The move clears space on the 40-man roster for Tommy Pham, who officially signed a one-year contract with Cincinnati on Saturday.

Antone (forearm) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Antone's move to the 60-day IL is simply procedural since he underwent Tommy John surgery in late August and will miss most or all of the 2022 campaign as a result. The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for Tyler Stephenson (undisclosed), who was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list Wednesday.

Antone (forearm) will undergo Tommy John surgery Friday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Antone was diagnosed with a right forearm strain Wednesday, and the issue will force him to undergo his second Tommy John surgery. The 27-year-old missed the 2017 campaign due to the procedure and will be sidelined for most or all of 2022 after he goes under the knife Friday. The right-hander made 23 relief appearances in 2021 while battling injuries, and he posted a 2.14 ERA and 0.89 WHIP with three saves and eight holds in 33.2 innings.

The Reds placed Antone on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right forearm strain.
EDGE Analysis
Antone had missed the past two months with a strained forearm before being activated from the 10-day IL Tuesday, but he lasted just one appearance before aggravating the injury. While the Reds haven't commented on the severity of Antone's setback, he'll almost certainly miss more than the minimum 10 days, and he could be in danger of sitting out the rest of the season. With Antone out of the picture for the time being, Mychal Givens, Michael Lorenzen, Lucas Sims and Amir Garrett look to be the top late-inning options for manager David Bell.
