The Red Sox have signed Guerrero to a minor-league contract, Andrew Parker of SoxProspects.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Guerrero played in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball league with the Chiba Lotte Marines last year, posting a 6.41 ERA with a 15:8 K:BB over 19.2 innings spanning 21 games. The righty reliever has 113 regular-season games of MLB experience, logging a 5.77 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 111:67 K:BB across 106 frames between the Padres and Marlins. Considering that Guerrero last pitched in the majors in 2019, he's a long shot to make an impact with the Red Sox during the upcoming campaign.

EDGE Analysis
Guerrero owns a 5.77 ERA across 106 career big-league innings, the last of which came in 2019. He spent last season in Japan, posting a 3.52 ERA in 46 innings for the Chiba Lotte Marines. He'll compete for a low-leverage relief role in camp.

Guerrero was reassigned to the team's minor-league camp on Monday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Guerrero was in spring training as a non-roster invitee, but he was unable to crack the Opening Day roster as a bullpen arm. He last pitched in the major leagues in 2019, when he posted a 6.26 ERA and 1.70 WHIP with a 43:36 K:BB across 46 innings with Miami.

The White Sox announced Monday that Guerrero will be included as part of the team's 60-man roster pool.
EDGE Analysis
The hard-throwing reliever has posted some solid strikeout rates during stints in the majors the past two years with the Marlins, but poor control and command have hindered his overall effectiveness. Though the expanded roster will allow Guerrero to stick around with the White Sox in 2020, expect most of his use to be limited to lower-leverage spots.

EDGE Analysis
He will serve as organizational pitching depth after getting booted off the 40-man roster to make room for Edwin Encarnacion.

Guerrero was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Guerrero was claimed off waivers by the White Sox in December, but he'll be removed from the 40-man roster in order to make room for Luis Robert, who was placed on the 40-man roster after he signed an extension Thursday. Guerrero struggled in 52 major-league appearances with the Marlins in 2019, recording a 6.26 ERA with a 43:36 K:BB.

The White Sox claimed Guerrero off waivers from the Marlins on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Guerrero averaged 99 mph on his fastball last season, but he did not have much of a clue where it was going as evidenced by a 16.7 percent walk rate. Command and control have always been problems for the 6-foot-8 Guerrero, who turns 29 next month, and the Marlins gave up hope. The right-hander will compete for a bullpen role in spring training.
