Teagarden has been suspended 80 games for violating the Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program, Rich Dubroff of CSNmidatlantic.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 32-year-old appeared in only eight games with the Cubs last year and is currently without a team. It's entirely possible Teagarden has played his last game at the major league level, but he may be able to land a minor league depth role once the suspension is served. Teagarden was caught on camera discussing PED use in an infamous Al Jazeera report from earlier this year.

Teagarden was added to the 40-man roster Sunday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
No specific reason for Teagarden's late addition to the 40-man roster, but he'll provide some organizational depth for the Cubs.

Teagarden will be called up to the Cubs while David Ross (concussion) is placed on the seven-day disabled list, Bruce Miles of the Daily Herald reports. Ross' stint on the DL is retroactive to Thursday, so Teagarden will only have a handful of opportunities during his short time with the Cubs. Additionally, normal starter Miguel Montero will likely get the nod for the majority of that time, leaving Teagarden with little viability despite the sudden promotion.

Taylor Teagarden (hamstring) has not begun playing rehab games. Teagarden is eligible to come off the disabled list Monday, but he's obviously not close to returning. With Travis d'Arnaud and Anthony Recker on the active roster, there might not be room for him with the big club even once he gets back to full health.

Mets placed C Taylor Teagarden on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 22, with a strained left hamstring. Some speculated that Anthony Recker would be demoted with Travis d'Arnaud coming back from the minors, but he'll actually stick around. Teagarden is hitting .143 (4-for-28) with one home run and four RBI over nine games with the Mets this season.

Taylor Teagarden went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Tuesday's win over the Brewers. Teagarden, making his 2014 debut, gave the Mets a 6-1 lead with a sixth-inning grand slam off of Marco Estrada. Obviously, it marks his first hit, homer, run, and runs batted in on the season for the 30-year-old former top prospect. A nice way to make an impression.

Mets purchased the contract of catcher Taylor Teagarden from Triple-A Las Vegas. The 30-year-old Teagarden hasn't hit in the majors since 2008, but he was at .279/.402/.548 with eight homers in 104 at-bats for Triple-A Las Vegas this season, earning him another chance. He'll likely back up Anthony Recker initially, but if he gets off to a quick start, he could take over the job.

Mets reassigned C Taylor Teagarden, INF Anthony Seratelli and INF/OF Eric Campbell to minor league camp. Teagarden had a chance to crack the Opening Day roster with a strong showing in the spring, but the 30-year-old backstop hit just .222/.256/.306 with 17 strikeouts in 36 at-bats. He'll function as organizational depth in the minors.

Adam Rubin of ESPN.com reports that Taylor Teagarden's minor league deal with the Mets includes an opt-out clause that he can exercise if he's not on the major league roster by June 15. The 30-year-old backstop faces an uphill battle trying to supplant Anthony Recker for the backup cather's job in New York. He has always held promise offensively though, and could be worth a look in NL-only leagues if he finds his way onto the Opening Day roster.
