Marimon was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan reports. Marimon will head back to Gwinnett after being with the Braves for only a couple of days. He's appeared in five games for Atlanta this season, allowing eight earned runs over 8.1 total innings. In a corresponding move, the Braves purchased the contract of Ryan Kelly in advance of Sunday's game.

Marimon was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports. The righty will take Brandon Cunniff's place in the Braves' bullpen in the short term. He is unlikely to see many high-leverage opportunities.

In one stint with the Braves in April, he struggled, giving up five earned runs in 7.1 innings and holding a 1.64 WHIP. Marimon should fight for innings in the fledgling Braves bullpen, but his lack of punch-outs gives him limited fantasy value.
