Boston Red Sox pitcher Steven Wright (knee) could begin a rehab assignment as soon as this week. However, he's scheduled to pitch strictly in relief when he returns to the Red Sox, which saps any of his potential fantasy value.

Boston Red Sox pitcher Steven Wright (knee) has already thrown a few bullpen sessions and could be nearing a rehab assignment. He went on the 10-day disabled list on June 26 after having a cartilage restoration procedure on his left knee last May. When the knuckleballer does return, it'll be in a relief role. He has a 2.25 ERA in six relief outings over 16 innings this year, so he'll be a valuable piece down the stretch. That won't include fantasy value, however.

Wright was having a fantastic start to the season before a disastrous start in which he piled up 10 earned runs.
