Souza went 1-for-5 with a stolen base in the Diamondbacks' 2-1 win over the Nationals in 11 innings Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Souza did all his damage in the bottom of the 11th, reaching on an infield single before nabbing second base with two outs. Nick Ahmed then popped out to end the contest, depriving Souza from his first run of the season. With three hits in 20 at-bats and no runs or RBI since returning from the disabled list last week, Souza may not be worth activating in shallower formats until his bat begins to heat up.

Souza went 2-for-3 and a walk in the Diamondbacks' 8-5 win over the Dodgers on Tuesday in 12 innings.
EDGE Analysis
The pair of base hits were Souza's first in a Diamondbacks uniform and ended a 0-for-10 skid at the plate heading into Tuesday. With strikeout rates higher than 29 percent in each of the past three seasons, Souza will likely remain a liability in the batting-average category all season, but he should rack up plenty of RBI chances if he continues to hit directly behind Paul Goldschmidt and A.J. Pollock.

Souza is not in the lineup Friday against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
The Diamondbacks appear to be easing Souza into action after he returned from the disabled list Thursday. In his season debut, the outfielder went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. Jarrod Dyson will replace him in right field for the evening.

Souza (pectoral) went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts in the Diamondbacks' 5-2 loss to the Dodgers on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Souza's Diamondbacks debut wasn't a particularly memorable one, but now that he has recovered from a strained right pectoral muscle suffered in spring training, he's expected to provide a major power upgrade over the likes of Jarrod Dyson and Chris Owings, who had shared right-field duties for the first month of the season. The Diamondbacks slotted Souza fifth in the order Thursday with a lefty (Alex Wood) starting for Los Angeles and seems likely to occupy a similar spot against right-handed pitching as well. Souza should benefit from plenty of RBI opportunities with on-base machines Paul Goldschmidt and A.J. Pollock slotting directly ahead of him in the order.

Souza (pectoral) was activated from the 10-day disabled list prior to Thursday's game against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Souza has been sidelined since March 21 with a right pectoral strain, but is ready to make his Diamondbacks debut after participating in a few extended spring training contests over the past couple weeks. The 29-year-old will immediately be placed into the starting nine in right field while batting fifth in the order for Thursday's series finale.

Manager Torey Lovullo appeared optimistic Tuesday that Souza (pectoral) could return by this weekend's series against the Astros, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic Arizona reports.
EDGE Analysis
Souza's recovery appears to have been fast-tracked over the last few days, as he appears to have made significant progress since only beginning to throw from 70 feet Saturday. The 29-year-old has been playing in extended spring training games and could skip a minor-league rehab assignment if he is indeed activated for this weekend against Houston.

Diamondbacks' manager Torey Lovullo said "It's looking very good," in response to the idea of Souza (pectoral) being activated soon, Jack Magruder of FanRagSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's hardly an official timetable, but is nonetheless a good sign for Arizona's right fielder. Souza continued his work at the Diamondbacks' extended spring training, hitting a home run while playing five innings Tuesday. The 29-year-old has been recovering from a pectoral strain since mid-March and his minor-league rehab assignment has yet to be announced.

Souza (pectoral) received four at-bats in an extended spring training game over the weekend and is set to extend his throwing distance to 110-to-120 feet Monday, Matt Kelly of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
While the increased throwing distance amounts to another step forward for Souza in the recovery process, he's not quite far along enough for the Diamondbacks to offer a projected return date for the outfielder with much confidence. More clarity on Souza's timetable should come once he kicks of a minor-league rehab assignment, which probably won't happen for at least another week.

Souza (pectoral) has been regularly throwing from 70 feet in his rehab, Elliott Smith of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Souza was cleared to resume throwing last weekend and hasn't experienced any setbacks while doing so, but it appears the Diamondbacks are content to proceed slowly with the outfielder, who has been sidelined since spring training with a strained right pectoral muscle. He'll still need to build up his throwing distance and resume taking regular batting practice before the Diamondbacks send him out on a minor-league rehab assignment, likely at some point in May.

Souza (pectoral) will resume throwing Sunday, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic Arizona reports.
EDGE Analysis
Souza has yet to make his Diamondbacks debut after straining his pectoral in mid-March. He was able to throw in early April before being shutdown with soreness. He's been hitting in the past week and will resume throwing Sunday. His exact return date is not yet known.
