Matz (shoulder) is expected to rejoin the Mets' rotation next Tuesday, Adam Rubin of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz just landed on the disabled list Monday, but the move was made retroactively to Aug. 15, so he will have a chance to return to action after just one more week. Seth Lugo will get the start next time Matz's spot in the rotation comes up Thursday.

The Mets placed Matz (shoulder) on the 15-day disabled list Monday.
EDGE Analysis
It was announced earlier Monday that Matz would be placed on the disabled list, and the Mets did not wait long to make the move official. Matz's last start came August 14, so he will be eligible to be activated from the disabled list August 30. Whether or not he will return that day remains to be seen, however. Seth Lugo is expected to take Matz's place in the rotation for the time being.

The Mets are planning to place Matz (shoulder) on the disabled list, Adam Rubin of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets don't believe Matz is dealing with any structural damage in his shoulder, but he will still get some time off in order to rest and recover. It's not clear how long Matz will be sidelined, but he has not appeared in a game since Aug. 14, so he will be eligible to be activated from the disabled list Aug. 30.

Matz (shoulder) is dealing with a "mild" shoulder strain, Jon Heyman of Today's Knuckleball reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz met with doctors Monday, and while the strain could land him on the shelf, the results have to be considered somewhat of a relief overall. The young left-hander has no structural damage but is also battling some rotator cuff irritation, in addition to the previously discovered bone spur in his elbow, which he's pitched through for several months. All of that could add up to another skipped start, or perhaps even a stay on the disabled list, though the Mets are yet to comment on how they'll handle the situation. Manager Terry Collins intimated that Matz could make his next start Thursday, but if he's ultimately skipped, it will be Seth Lugo, who took the hill in Matz's place Friday night, serving as the replacement. "He's done a very nice job here," Collins said, regarding Lugo. "Even though [the Giants] hit some balls pretty hard, he didn't shy away from the strike zone. That's impressive."

Matz (shoulder) will visit a doctor Monday, Matt Ehalt of the Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz was able to play catch Saturday after missing his scheduled start Friday due to shoulder soreness, and he said he felt "fine" afterward. However, he did not incorporate any breaking pitches into his flat-ground work and the Mets will have Matz evaluated Monday before allowing him to ramp up his throwing any further.

Matz will miss his scheduled start Friday against San Francisco on Friday with lingering discomfort in his shoulder, Newsdayreports. "It's just discomfort ... I'm really not worried about it," he said.
EDGE Analysis
Seth Lugo will get the start with Matz sidelined. Matz says he hopes to miss just one turn in the rotation.

Matz (9-8) tossed 7.1 no-hit innings Sunday, walking two and striking out eight, before an Alexei Ramirez single broke up his bid and ended his day in a 5-1 win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
He was at 105 pitches by that point, so manager Terry Collins was taking no chances with the lefty's workload. Matz has now delivered quality starts in six of eight outings since the beginning of July but has just a 2-5 record over that stretch thanks to the struggles of the Mets' offense, with both wins coming in starts when he held the opposition off the scoreboard entirely. He'll likely need to be stingy once again in his next start Friday on the road against Johnny Cueto and the Giants.

Matz was solid Tuesday against the Arizona, striking out nine over six innings while allowing just two runs, five hits, and a walk. He earned a no-decision after his bullpen blew a 3-2 lead.
EDGE Analysis
Matz bounced back from a rough outing last Wednesday in which he allowed six earned runs against the rival Yankees. The nine strikeouts Tuesday tied a season-high, and brought Matz's season total to 121 over 125 innings pitched. Matz has had rough luck of late, going 1-5 in his last six starts entering Tuesday, despite throwing quality starts in four of them. His ERA is now 3.60.

Matz (8-8) gave up six runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six in Wednesday's road loss to the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
All the damage came in the first two innings -- a three-run rally in the first, a three-run homer by Mark Teixeira in the second -- and then Matz settled down, allowing only a single baserunner over his final four innings. The silver lining of six whiffs and good WHIP helps a little, but it doesn't get easier for Matz, as his next start will come against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Matz (8-7) pitched six innings, allowing two runs, ten hits and a walk while striking out five in Friday's loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Despite notching his fourth quality start in five July outings, Matz finished the month with a 1-4 record thanks to a lack of run support. In his past five starts, the Mets have scored a combined six runs, and no more than two in any of those games. Matz will look for better luck in his next start Wednesday versus the Yankees.
