Sharp re-signed with the Red Sox on a minor-league contract Jan. 4.
EDGE Analysis
After being released from the Nationals last August, Sharp caught on with the Red Sox on a minor-league deal to close out the 2022 campaign. The 27-year-old right-hander -- whose lone MLB action came with the Marlins in 2020 -- pitched exclusively at Double-A Portland during his time in the Boston organization, logging a 3.18 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 31:12 K:BB in 34 innings.

Sharp was released by the Nationals on Friday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sharp has only made four major-league appearances, all of which came in 2020 for the Marlins. The 27-year-old has spent all of this season with Triple-A Rochester, where he's struggled to a 6.50 ERA in 12 starts and five relief appearances.

Sharp was returned to the Nationals on Friday, Andersen Pickard of MLBDailyDish.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He was a top pick in the 2019 Rule 5 draft by the Marlins, but they opted to cut bait by designating him for assignment earlier this week and he went unclaimed. Sharp has some long-term potential as a No. 4 or No. 5 starter, but he had only made nine starts at Double-A and zero starts at Triple-A prior this season, so it's not a surprise he struggled (10.13 ERA) in a brief run in the Marlins' bullpen. According to Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post, he was added to the Nationals' 60-player pool, and the organization will likely continue to develop him as a starter.

Sharp was designated for assignment Monday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
As a Rule 5 pick, another team could claim Sharp, otherwise he will be returned to the Nationals. He logged two scoreless outings to start the season but has given up six runs on six hits and five walks over his last 2.2 innings.

Sharp has a 1.29 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 9:3 K:BB through seven innings this spring.
EDGE Analysis
Plucked from the Nats' system in the Rule 5 draft, Sharp hasn't looked overmatched at all so far this spring. The 24-year-old would need to stay on the 26-man roster all year if Miami doesn't want to have to offer him back to Washington, but he appears ready to provide useful middle-relief innings for the Marlins rather than needing to be hidden at the back of the bullpen and used only in blowouts.

The Marlins selected Sharp with the third pick of the Rule 5 draft.
EDGE Analysis
One of the more intriguing players available, Sharp excels at generating weak contact and logged a 3.28 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 24:13 K:BB in 24.2 innings in the Arizona Fall League. The 24-year-old righty logged a 63.3 GB% and 3.99 ERA in nine starts at Double-A with the Nationals' organization last year. He could be a groundball specialist in the big-league bullpen before finishing his development in the minors in 2021.

Double-A Harrisburg reinstated Sharp (oblique) from its 7-day injured list Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old hasn't pitched for the affiliate since May 24, but received the green light to rejoin Harrisburg for the Eastern League playoffs on the heels of three strong rehab outings in the lower minors. Sharp built up to four innings and 64 pitches in his last outing Thursday with short-season Williamsport, so he shouldn't face any significant restrictions as he rejoins the Harrisburg rotation.

Sharp (oblique) allowed one hit while striking out two over two scoreless innings in a rehab start for the Gulf Coast League Nationals on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander was making his first appearance at any level since May 24. He hit the 7-day IL with an oblique injury at Double-A Harrisburg after posting a 3.99 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 45:14 K:BB in 49.2 innings to begin the season. It looks like Sharp, arguably a top-five prospect in the Nationals organization, has a chance to return to the Senators for a start or two before Harrisburg's season wraps up.

Sharp is on the 7-day injured list at Double-A Harrisburg with an undisclosed injury.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old righty was in the midst of a breakout season, logging a 2.62 FIP and 45:14 K:BB in 49.2 innings over nine starts. His 21 percent strikeout rate isn't particularly impressive for a minor-league starting pitcher, but his 63.3 percent groundball rate is easily the best mark among all pitchers at Double-A.
