Stephen Drew got a qualifying offer from the Red Sox.
It's a one-year, $14.1 million offer. Drew will decline it and then be tied to draft pick compensation in free agency. As one of the few available shortstops on the open market, he should land a sizable contract.

Erik Boland of Long Island Newsday reports that despite re-signing Derek Jeter, the Yankees are showing serious interest in free agent Stephen Drew.
With Jeter slated to be the Yankees everyday shortstop, it remains to be seen if Drew would be interested in more of a utility role. Boland also notes that they're also interested in bringing back Brendan Ryan, who was acquired from the Mariners in a mid-season deal in 2013.

Red Sox manager John Farrell clarified Friday that despite his struggles offensively, Stephen Drew will remain in the Red Sox lineup for Game 6 of the ALCS on Friday.
The 30-year-old shortstop is just 1-for-17 with eight strikeouts in the series, and continues to be lauded for his tremendous defense at shortstop. Farrell prefers to shore up the middle of the field defensively, rather than looking to generate extra offense by starting Will Middlebrooks at the hot corner and shifting Xander Bogaerts to shortstop.

Stephen Drew had a two-run homer and a triple against the Orioles on Thursday.
Drew has always been a surprising source of triples, but part of that appeared to be a triple-friendly ballpark in Chase Field. Except he's kept it going this year, with seven triples to bring his career total to 59. He's 13th on the active list, and the only younger player ahead of him is Jose Reyes.

It's nothing more than a day of rest for the veteran shortstop, with youngster Xander Bogaerts starting at shortstop against tough southpaw C.C. Sabathia.

Stephen Drew hit a three-run homer off Giants left-hander Mike Kickham on Wednesday.
Drew probably isn't too happy about being turned into a platoon player with the Xander Bogaerts promotion, but he hasn't uttered a complaint. The move came even though he's playing his best ball of the season right now; he's hitting .307 with three homers and 14 RBI in 20 games this month.

Stephen Drew hit a three-run home run in the ninth inning to give the Red Sox a 7-5 win over the Astros on Wednesday.
Drew had extended his now-eight-game hitting streak with a single earlier in the night, but the biggest hit came off Astros de facto closer Josh Fields. The homer was Drew's ninth of the year, and the three runs driven in gave him 44 RBI. With Jose Iglesias now in Detroit, Drew has no competition for playing time at short.

Stephen Drew finished 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs in Sunday's win against the Diamondbacks.
During his five-game hitting streak, Drew has recorded four multi-hit games to inflate his batting average from .226 to .244. If you toss out his average, Drew is producing at roughly his career offensive pace in 2013. He is the type of shortstop that owners should target on the waiver wire if they happen to currently own Jhonny Peralta or Everth Cabrera.
