Greene recorded his sixth save of the season in Saturday's win over the Royals, giving up an unearned run on two hits in an inning of work. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Greene came on with the Tigers up 3-1 and gave up a leadoff double to Lucas Duda, who came around to score on an error by center fielder Leonys Martin. The veteran closer shut the door from there, however, and he displayed good swing-and-miss stuff in striking out the side. Greene is now 6-for-8 in save opportunities this season with a 4.50 ERA.

Greene picked up his fifth save of the season against the Rays on Tuesday by tossing a perfect ninth inning with two strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
This was a much-needed bounceback effort for Greene, who gave up three runs while recording just a single out to take the loss on Monday. The veteran closer still has an unsightly 5.25 ERA to go along with two blown saves, so he'll need to string together a few more appearances like this one to build up some trust with fantasy owners.

Greene (1-2) was tagged with the loss Monday against the Rays, giving up three runs on two hits and a walk while retiring just a single batter.
EDGE Analysis
Greene was victimized by the long ball, as he gave up a two-run home run to C.J. Cron and a solo shot to Brad Miller in the ninth inning before getting pulled. It wasn't a save situation, as the game was tied 0-0 when Greene entered, but it was a disappointing outing all the same. The veteran closer now has a 5.73 ERA, and the rebuilding Tigers could turn to a younger player like Joe Jimenez at some point if Greene continues to struggle or if he gets traded.

Greene recorded his fourth save of the season in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Pirates by tossing a clean ninth inning.
EDGE Analysis
Greene had allowed runs in two of his previous three outings, so it was nice to see him pitch well Wednesday, especially considering that Pittsburgh scored 10 times on 14 hits in this one. The veteran righty now has a 3.72 ERA and should remain a mid-tier fantasy closer.

Green will not be available against Kansas City on Saturday after pitching four innings in the past three days, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Green was dealt the loss and blown save during Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk over one inning of relief. Joe Jimenez will likely be called upon to work the ninth inning in his place.

Greene (1-1) was tagged with a loss and his second blown save of the season in Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader against the Royals. He allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk in an inning of work.
EDGE Analysis
Greene entered in the top of the ninth with the Tigers up 2-1 and promptly struck out the first Kansas City batter he faced. It was all downhill from there, however, as he proceeded to give up three straight hits and allowed the tying run to cross the plate. The go-ahead run would score on a Detroit error. Greene now has a 4.15 ERA and 1.38 WHIP, and he's often much too hittable to be anything more than a middle-tier closer. It wouldn't be too surprising to see Detroit try someone different in the role at some point this season.

Greene struck out two but gave up a game-tying solo home run to Luis Sardinas in the top of the ninth inning Wednesday, but picked up the win when Dixon Machado responded with a walkoff shot in the bottom of the ninth.
EDGE Analysis
It was his first win, and first blown save, of the season. Greene now has an 8:2 K:BB in 7.2 innings, and while his 4.05 ERA looks shaky, his spot as the Tigers' closer is in no jeopardy.

Greene fired a perfect inning of work Tuesday against the Orioles to record his third save of the season.
EDGE Analysis
After allowing two earned runs in his season debut, Greene has not been scored upon in his last five outings. The good stretch has his ERA down to 3.18. Greene should continue to be a decent fantasy option, though Detroit isn't expected to win a ton of games this season, which could limit the closer's ceiling.

Greene earned his second save of the season by tossing a perfect inning against the White Sox Sunday. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Greene came on with the Tigers up 1-0 and he shut Chicago down on 14 pitches, 11 of which were strikes. Greene gave up two earned runs in his first appearance of the season, but he's kept the opponent off the board over his last three innings of work. He remains a decent fantasy option, though he might not get as many save opportunities as some other closers with the Tigers expected to be in a rebuilding season.

Greene picked up his first save of the season Thursday against the White Sox, as he struck out the side in the bottom of the 10th inning to close out a 9-7 Tigers win.
EDGE Analysis
Greene had allowed at least two hits in each of his previous two appearances this season, but he was stingier on Thursday, putting on just a single baserunner via a walk. The three strikeouts were also an encouraging sign. Greene looked good last year in a relief role for the Tigers, but he doesn't have a huge track record of MLB success, so he's likely not on the longest leash. Outings like Thursday's will help lengthen that leash.
