Maness earned the win in relief Friday night after recording the final two outs in the victory over the Cubs. The Cards used Maness after Randy Choate retired the first batter of the 10th inning, as Kevin Siegrist and Trevor Rosenthal had already pitched. Maness' effectiveness is tied to his excellent control, while he's put together the lowest walk rate of his career (1.7% BB%) over 36 appearances (28 innings) this season.

Maness notched his first save of the season Saturday, getting four outs while allowing just a hit as the Cardinals beat the Brewers. The Cardinals' bullpen delivered a solid performance after starter Adam Wainwright exited with an injury after four innings. Maness should be a solid source of holds with the occasional save when Jordan Walden and Trevor Rosenthal are on rest days.

Maness picked up his first hold of the season in recording one out against the Reds Saturday. The Cardinals have a very deep bullpen the result of which will likely mean shorter outings for it's relievers and more wins for the Cardinals' starters. Maness could be a solid source of holds pitching for a team that should win a lot of games in 2015.

Maness took the loss Tuesday after allowing a pinch-hit three-run home run to Pittsburgh's Ike Davis with two outs in the eighth. While Maness has a higher ERA than last season the rest of his numbers have improved as he's striking out more and allowing fewer baserunners.
