Braves Leaning Toward Sean Newcomb In Game 3 Of NLDS rotoballer.com Sat 10/6/18 4:22 PM

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Kevin Gausman is listed as the Game 3 starter for the National League Division Series against the Dodgers on Sunday, but the team is now leaning toward using Sean Newcomb in that game. It could be because the Dodgers are much more beatable when they have to face lefties on the season. Newcomb has plenty of upside (3.90 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 8.8 K/9 on the year), but he can also struggle with command (4.4 BB/9), making him a high-risk, high-reward DFS pick.

Kevin Gausman, Sean Newcomb Could Start Games 3 And 4 rotoballer.com Thu 10/4/18 6:54 PM

Atlanta Braves starting pitchers Kevin Gausman and Sean Newcomb are the front-runners to pitch in Games 3 and 4, respectively, against the Dodgers in the National League Division Series. However, manager Brian Snitker wouldn't rule out using either pitcher or Julio Teheran in relief before then. Gausman was much better for the Braves than with the Orioles this year, going 5-3 with a 2.87 ERA, 1.14 [...]

Sean Newcomb Strong In No-Decision rotoballer.com Thu 9/27/18 12:32 PM

Atlanta Braves starter Sean Newcomb tossed five scoreless innings in Wednesday's 3-0 loss to the New York Mets. Newcomb allowed one hit and four walks while striking out eight. He has a 12-9 record on the season to go along with a 3.91 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and 160/80 K/BB ratio. He has been hard to trust at times and is prone to the occasional blow-up. Newcomb is an SP5/SP6 for fantasy purposes heading into 2019.

Sean Newcomb's Next Start To Be Skipped rotoballer.com Thu 9/20/18 7:52 PM

The Atlanta Braves will skip starting pitcher Sean Newcomb's next start. Instead, Mike Foltynewicz will start on Saturday and Anibal Sanchez will go on Sunday in the series finale against the Phillies. While Newcomb has been solid overall in 2018, he's been bad lately, so the Braves are probably just trying to get him a little extra rest as they prepare for a playoff push.

Sean Newcomb Blows Up On Sunday rotoballer.com Mon 9/17/18 1:58 PM

Atlanta Braves starter Sean Newcomb allowed five runs on six hits across three innings of work in Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Washington Nationals. Newcomb has been an incredibly mixed bag lately. In his past eight starts, he has three outings where he has allowed one run or less. In the other five starts, he has allowed a combined 26 runs. Newcomb is a highly risky fantasy play at this point due to his inconsistency. He has a 12-9 record on the season to go along with a 4.04 ERA, 1.34 [...]

Sean Newcomb Dominates Giants On Monday rotoballer.com Tue 9/11/18 2:20 PM

Atlanta Braves starter Sean Newcomb had an excellent bounce-back performance on Monday against the San Francisco Giants. Newcomb went six innings, allowing one run on three hits. The lefty had eight strikeouts and did not issue a single walk en route to his 12th win of the season. Newcomb has been incredibly inconsistent as of late. In his past eight starts, he has allowed one run or less in four of them. In the other four starts, he has allowed a combined 21 runs. This has made him a boom-or-b[...]

Sean Newcomb Has Another Short Outing rotoballer.com Tue 9/4/18 8:07 PM

Atlanta Braves starter Sean Newcomb went 4 1/3 innings on Tuesday, allowing three runs on four hits in a 5-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox. He also issued five walks. Newcomb has really struggled as of late which is evidenced by an 8.15 ERA through his past five starts. The 25-year-old had a strong start to the season, but simply cannot be trusted on the mound at this point. It might be time to drop Newcomb in mixed leagues with 12 teams or less.
