The left-hander didn't receive a blown save because the game was tied, but Doolittle suffered his third loss of the season. He's allowed two homers in his last two innings, but before Monday, Doolittle hadn't allowed a home run since May 24. Doolittle gave up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to record his 20th save of the season in a 4-3 win over the Phillies.

The veteran closer continues to get the job done as part of a remarkable turnaround by the Nats' bullpen. Since the beginning of June, Doolittle has posted a 2.20 ERA and 18:4 K:BB over 16.1 innings while converting 10 of 12 save chances, adding three wins to his ledger as well.

Doolittle (6-2) didn't allow a run and captured a win Sunday against the Royals, but he did give up two hits and blew his fourth save of the year during 1.1 innings.

The Nationals turned to their closer with the tying run at first base and two outs in the top of the eighth. On the first pitch Doolittle threw, he gave up a game-tying double. With an inherited runner and entering in the eighth, it wasn't a typical blown save, but it will count the same. Doolittle stuck around for the ninth and earned the win, though, improving to 6-2. He also has a 3.13 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 44 strikeouts in 37.1 innings this year.

Doolittle yielded one run on three hits during the ninth but struck out two and still recorded his 19th save of the season in a 3-1 victory against the Marlins on Wednesday.

It took him 33 pitches, but Doolittle eventually nailed down his 19th save. He hasn't been the best closer in some categories -- 3.25 ERA and 1.36 WHIP -- but he is 5-2 and has recorded 11 of his last 12 save chances. Doolittle is 19-for-22 in save opportunities overall with 44 strikeouts in 36 innings as well this year.

Doolittle (5-2) didn't allow any hits while recording two strikeouts and issuing one walk during the ninth inning to earn a victory against the Marlins on Tuesday.

The Nationals closer entered with the score tied, and because Washington won in walk-off fashion during the bottom of the ninth, Doolittle captured his fifth win. Doolittle has allowed just one run in his last 7.2 frames, and during that stretch, he's earned five saves and a win. He is 5-2 and 18-for-21 in save opportunities with a 3.09 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 42 strikeouts in 35 innings this season.

Doolittle threw a scoreless ninth inning despite allowing a hit and a walk Sunday, striking out one batter and earning the save over Detroit.

Despite putting two Tigers on base, Doolittle converted his fifth straight save chance, making him 18-for-21 this season. His 3.18 ERA and 1.32 WHIP are both a bit disappointing, but he posted a 2.45 ERA in June after a disastrous May. Doolittle should remain a strong closer as the second half of the season rolls around.
