An MRI taken Thursday on Scott Baker's elbow showed a mild flexor muscle strain.
The Twins are going to skip Baker's next start but seem optimistic that he will be ready to go soon after the All-Star break. Anthony Swarzak is scheduled to take the mound in his place Sunday against the White Sox. Baker, 29, has a 3.01 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 17 starts this year for Minnesota.

While the Twins await word on the results of an MRI, Scott Baker (elbow) was diagnosed with a flexor muscle strain.
Baker remains confident that the injury is a minor one, but Twins manager Ron Gardenhire indicated Wednesday morning that there is a "good chance" Anthony Swarzak will start in his place Sunday against the White Sox. We'll know something more definitive once the team discloses the MRI results, but we wouldn't count on Baker this weekend.

Scott Baker downplayed the condition of his right elbow following Tuesday's game.
Baker will undergo an MRI on Wednesday after leaving Tuesday's start due to a mild right elbow strain, but said he's merely trying to play things safe. "At this point in the season I'm just trying to be smart about it," said Baker. "I think I almost didn't say anything (to the trainers) to be honest with you, and I was going to continue to pitch with it, but it just was a little more discomfort then I would have liked to continue to pitch with. I think it's just a precautionary thing. Obviously we'll reevaluate it (Wednesday) and see where we're at." Baker had elbow surgery last October, but the good news is that he said Tuesday's discomfort is "not even close" to what he felt last season.

Scott Baker will undergo an MRI on his right elbow Wednesday.
Baker left Tuesday's start against the Rays after just five innings due to a mild right elbow strain. The 29-year-old right-hander has had elbow issues in the past, so there's reason for some concern here. We should learn something more definitive about his status in the next 24 hours.

Scott Baker struck out nine in 7 1/3 innings innings to earn a win as the Twins beat the Dodgers 1-0 on Wednesday.
Ben Revere led off the bottom of the first with a triple and then scored on Tsuyoshi Nishioka's groundout. It proved to be the only run of the game, but it was enough to get Baker his fourth win of the month. His ERA is down to 3.15, and he's up over 100 strikeouts at 101 with his nine today.

Scott Baker fired eight shutout innings Saturday in the Twins' 1-0 win over the Padres.
Baker surrendered only four hits and walked just one batter while racking up a whopping 10 strikeouts. The right-hander was also dominant in his last outing against a tough Rangers lineup and should be owned again in all fantasy leagues. He has a 3.24 ERA and 1.17 WHIP on the season.
