Alexander earned a save against the Twins on Monday with a scoreless inning of work.
EDGE Analysis
Giants closer Camilo Doval pitched both Saturday and Sunday, so Alexander was called upon in the ninth inning with his team up 4-1. The lefty hit the first batter he faced before inducing a double play and a lineout to wrap things up. Alexander isn't likely to see many more (if any) save chances this season, but he's been getting more high-leverage work of late, picking up three holds and two wins while allowing just one run over 7.1 frames over his past eight appearances.

Alexander (4-0) walked one without allowing a hit or run in two-thirds of an inning to earn the win Friday over the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Alexander inherited a runner on second base with one out when he relieved Anthony DeSclafani in the sixth inning. Alexander then walked Joey Wendle but retired the next two batters to end the threat with the Giants down 2-1, and they rallied ahead with a three-run inning. With one run allowed over his last 6.1 innings, Alexander is emerging as a sort of fireman in the San Francisco bullpen. He's at a 4.96 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 9:4 K:BB across 16.1 innings, but he's also picked up four holds and appears to have the trust of manager Gabe Kapler in a variety of situations. Alexander is unlikely to compete for saves.

Alexander (3-0) was awarded the win Monday over the Phillies. He pitched 1.1 perfect innings without striking out a batter.
EDGE Analysis
Jakob Junis allowed a run while completing the fifth inning after Alex Wood came up an out short of qualifying for the win. However, the official scorer deemed Alexander worthy of getting the decision. The southpaw has settled down a bit with one runs allowed over 4.2 innings across his last five outings. He has a 5.52 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 8:3 K:BB with three holds and two blown saves through 14.2 innings this season, though a pair of three-run meltdowns in late April have skewed his numbers.

Alexander (2-0) pitched a perfect inning and earned the win in Sunday's 5-4 victory over the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Alexander got three groundouts to set down the Mets in order in the top of the eighth inning. A Mike Yastrzemski double put the Giants ahead in the bottom of the frame. Through 10 appearances, Alexander has allowed just two runs on eight hits over 9.1 innings, good for a 1.93 ERA and 0.86 WHIP. He has neither significant strikeout stuff nor a clear high-leverage role, but he's been effective when called upon. With Taylor Rogers shaky early in the season, there's a path for Alexander to serve as a key southpaw in the late innings.

Alexander (1-0) struck out one and didn't allow a baserunner in two-thirds of an inning to earn the win Tuesday versus the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Starter Alex Wood came one out short of qualifying for the win. Jakob Junis allowed a pair of hits in the sixth inning, and the bases were loaded on catcher's interference, but Alexander got out of the jam unscathed. Over 2.2 innings this season, Alexander has allowed two hits and struck out three without issuing a walk or permitting a run. He remains more of a low-leverage reliever, but the early returns are solid.

Alexander has allowed one earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five over four innings through four Cactus League appearances.
EDGE Analysis
Alexander saw limited time in 2022, but he found success with a 1.04 ERA and 0.75 WHIP across 17.1 innings. It's highly unlikely he repeats that over the course of a full season, but he could find some success as a middle reliever and occasional opener. The 33-year-old southpaw has amassed just 62.1 innings in the majors over the last four campaigns due to hand, forearm and shoulder injuries that have cost him large chunks of time.

Alexander will serve as the opener Sunday against the Diamondbacks, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Alexander threw 1.1 scoreless innings to begin Saturday's game against Arizona, and he'll likely pitch a similar amount Sunday. The Giants are poised to throw a bullpen game, and Sean Hjelle is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to fill a long-relief role for the contest.

Alexander will serve as the opener for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Alexander has tossed 7.2 scoreless innings over his last eight appearances, and he's converted both of his save chances while picking up three holds over that stretch. However, he'll serve as an opener for the second time in less than a week Saturday, while Jakob Junis should be available as a bulk reliever.

Alexander did not factor into the decision in one inning as the opener Sunday against Arizona. He allowed one hit and did not allow a walk or a run.
EDGE Analysis
Alexander got the nod as the opener Sunday and recorded a scoreless inning, marking seven consecutive appearances without allowing a run. The 33-year-old has played a bit of a utility role for Arizona, as in the month of September, he has two saves, five holds and an appearance as the opener. In 10.2 innings this month, he owns a 1.76 ERA and 6:1 K:BB.

Alexander will start Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks as the opener, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jakob Junis hasn't had much success lately (7.13 ERA in his last five appearances), so manager Gabe Kapler will throw the lefty Alexander in front of Junis and give Arizona a couple different looks early. Alexander has been excellent since joining the major-league team in San Francisco (1.38 ERA, 0.77 WHIP), but he hasn't thrown more than 1.1 innings in an appearance.
