Freeman and the Braves agreed to a one-year, $1.575 million contract Friday to avoid arbitration.
EDGE Analysis
Freeman threw 50.1 innings for the Braves last season, recording a 4.29 ERA. He finished with an above-average 26.9 percent strikeout rate, but his 14.8 percent walk rate was too high to make him anything more than a middle reliever.

The Braves reinstated Freeman (shoulder) from the 10-day disabled list Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Freeman wrapped up a three-game minor-league rehab assignment at Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday with a scoreless inning out of the bullpen and should settle back into a middle-relief role for the big club. The lefty, who had been sidelined since late July with shoulder inflammation, maintains a 5.45 ERA and 1.51 WHIP over 49 appearances for the Braves this season.

Freeman (shoulder) moved his rehab assignment to Triple-A Gwinnett and tossed a scoreless inning Tuesday in his appearance against Louisville. He worked around a hit and walk and struck out a batter while capturing the win in relief.
EDGE Analysis
It was the second minor-league appearance for Freeman, who has been on the disabled list since July 30 with left shoulder inflammation. Assuming he endures no setbacks in his subsequent outings at Triple-A, Freeman looks like a good bet to rejoin the Braves before the end of August. Over 49 appearances out of the big-league bullpen this season, Freeman has posted a 5.45 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 43:27 K:BB.

Freeman (shoulder) starts a minor-league rehab assignment at Low-A Rome on Sunday, David O'Brien of The Athletic Atlanta reports.
EDGE Analysis
Freeman landed on the disabled list in late July with left shoulder inflammation and should only require an outing or two in the minors. The veteran left-hander has struggled this season with a 5.45 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 43:27 K:BB over 39.2 innings.

Freeman was placed on the 10-day disabled list due to left shoulder inflammation retroactive to Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear as to when Freeman suffered the injury, though he looked shaky during both appearances against the Dodgers in Atlanta's most recent series. He will be eligible to return from the shelf Aug. 8 in Washington. In a corresponding move, Brad Brach was added to the Braves active roster after being acquired in a trade with Baltimore on Sunday.

Freeman gave up a run on two hits and two walks over two-thirds of an innings while striking out one in Sunday's loss to the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
The run came on a solo shot by Jesus Aguilar, and Freeman was lucky to escape the outing with as little damage to his ERA as he did. The left-hander has a woeful 7.53 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB in 14.1 innings since the beginning of June, and he'll continue to see action in low-leverage spots until he proves he can be entrusted with more critical duties.

Freeman will have his usage scaled back after pitching in 14 of the Braves' first 21 games this season, Gabriel Burns of The Atlanta-Journal Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
He's only thrown 9.2 innings in those appearances, filling the role of lefty specialist, but fatigue is still beginning to show -- Freeman's been charged with six runs (five earned) in just one-third of an inning over his last two games including a rough outing Monday, and his 8:10 K:BB on the season is very poor. The Braves do have other southpaw relievers available, namely A.J. Minter and Jesse Biddle, so expect Freeman to get some time to rest and recover before manager Brian Snitker calls his name again.

Freeman was credited with a hold after striking out the lone batter he faced in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
With Ryan Zimmerman at the dish with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning, Freeman was called upon from the bullpen to clean up the mess created by Mike Foltynewicz and Peter Moylan. Despite having been used the previous two days, Freeman showed no signs of fatigue, battling Zimmerman to a 3-2 count before getting a called strike three to end the threat. With the Braves off the schedule Thursday, Freeman will pick up some rest and should be ready to handle high-leverage work during the team's three-game series in Colorado over the weekend.

Freeman and the Braves avoided arbitration by agreeing on a one-year, $1.075 million contract Thursday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
Freeman will return to the Atlanta in 2018 after compiling a respectable 2.55 ERA and 59 strikeouts across 60 innings of relief last season. The 30-year-old groundball pitcher should reprise his role in the Braves' bullpen next season, though given his middle-relief role and high propensity to issue walks, he doesn't figure to hold much fantasy value.

Sun 9/24/17 7:35 PM

Freeman has a 2.70 ERA with 56 strikeouts across 56.2 innings this season with the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Freeman has not allowed a run in his last five appearances, and he's earned an incredible 1.11 ERA over the course of his last 27 games. After only appearing seven times for Milwaukee in 2016, he's found success with the Braves, recording 12 holds in 55 games. The 30-year-old is one of the better options out of the bullpen, and should be used in medium to high-leverage situations during the final games of the season.
