Yarbrough came away with a no-decision in Sunday's loss to the Rays, allowing one run on two hits and a walk over four relief innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Taking the mound with one out in the second inning after an impressive stint from opener Ryan Burr, Yarbrough tossed 54 pitches (38 strikes) and held Tampa Bay scoreless, only to watch Zach Pop let his inherited runner cross the plate in the sixth. Yarbrough has a 1.98 ERA, 0.59 WHIP and 12:3 K:BB over 13.2 innings in September across five appearances, but it's not clear if he'll get another scheduled turn as a bulk reliever before the end of the season.

Yarbrough is expected to serve as a bulk reliever behind opening pitcher Ryan Burr in Sunday's game against the Rays, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty hasn't made a start for Toronto since being acquired at the trade deadline July 30, but he should be ticketed for his third outing as a bulk reliever behind Burr. When Burr previously made one- and two-inning starts Aug. 22 against the Angels and Sept. 9 versus the Mets, respectively, Yarbrough followed him and covered five and 3.2 innings out of the bullpen. Yarbrough will be pitching on three days' rest Sunday after logging two scoreless innings out of the bullpen Wednesday against the Rangers.

Yarbrough (5-2) earned the win over the Angels on Thursday, allowing three hits and striking out four batters over five scoreless innings in bulk relief.
EDGE Analysis
Ryan Burr opened the contest for Toronto and pitched a scoreless first frame. He surrendered a leadoff single in the second and then turned the ball over to Yarbrough, who followed with five scoreless innings during which he allowed just three singles and a hit batsman. The outing was the longest for Yarbrough since joining the Blue Jays via a trade with the Dodgers on July 30 -- before Thursday, he hadn't pitched more than two innings in an appearance for the Blue Jays. The left-hander has been pitching well of late, giving up only one run across his past nine innings spanning three outings.

Yarbrough is expected to be deployed as a bulk reliever in Thursday's game versus the Angels, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ryan Burr will be the Blue Jays' opening pitcher, but it will be Yarbrough who is likely to cover most of the innings. The left-hander hasn't gone more than two innings in any of his first four appearances with Toronto, but he lasted three-plus innings in eight of his 32 outings earlier this season with the Dodgers.

Yarbrough retired all three batters he faced but was charged with a blown save in Sunday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Though Kaitlin McGrath of The Athletic reported shortly after Yarbrough was acquired from the Dodgers on Tuesday that the left-hander would likely serve as a member of the Toronto rotation down the stretch, any appointment to a starting role looks as though it'll come later on in the season. Yarbrough has plenty of prior starting experience in the big leagues, but he had worked exclusively out of the bullpen this season with the Dodgers and hasn't recorded more than four outs in an appearance since the All-Star break, so he'll likely need more time to get stretched out before the Blue Jays turn to him in the rotation. In his team debut Sunday, Yarbrough was called upon to protect a 2-0 lead with no outs and runners at first and second, and while he was able to escape the sixth inning with no damage to his ERA, the Yankees successfully manufactured two runs to tie up the game. Jazz Chisholm and Anthony Volpe first executed a double steal, then came around to score on a fielder's choice and sacrifice fly, in that order.

Yarbrough is expected to work out of the rotation once he joins the Blue Jays, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Acquired from the Dodgers on Tuesday in exchange for outfielder Kevin Kiermaier, Yarbrough has made all 32 of his appearances out of the bullpen this season, but he has extensive experience as a starter and bulk reliever from his time in Tampa Bay. He posted a 3.74 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 39:25 K:BB through 67.1 innings for the Dodgers in 2024, but he's unlikely to maintain those ratios in a larger role -- he has a 4.74 ERA over 68 career starts.

The Blue Jays acquired Yarbrough from the Dodgers on Tuesday in exchange for outfielder Kevin Kiermaier, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After being designated for assignment on Monday so that the Dodgers could make room on the roster for trade-deadline pickup Amed Rosario, Yarbrough will now get a chance to carve out a role for himself with the Blue Jays. The 32-year-old lefty has mostly worked out of the bullpen over the past three seasons and will presumably step into a long-relief role initially with his new organization, though the Blue Jays are lacking in back-end rotation depth and could end up giving Yarbrough a look in a starting role at some point. Yarbrough owns a 3.74 ERA and 1.14 WHIP through 67.1 innings on the season, though he's given up 10 earned runs in just 15 innings since the beginning of July.

Yarbrough was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Yarbrough will be placed on waivers and if he goes unclaimed, he'll either report to Triple-A Oklahoma City or elect free agency. He is the odd man out on the major-league roster after the team acquired infielder Amed Rosario from the Rays via trade Monday. Yarbrough has produced a respectable 3.74 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with 39 strikeouts over 67.1 innings in 32 appearances with Los Angeles this season.

Yarbrough tossed three relief innings against Texas on Thursday, allowing one run on two hits and four walks while striking out three batters.
EDGE Analysis
With Yoshinobu Yamamoto's scheduled start pushed back to Saturday, Los Angeles opted for a bullpen game in the finale of a three-game set against the Rangers. Michael Grove opened and took the loss after allowing two runs in one inning, before Yarbrough settled things down a bit despite issuing a season-high four free passes. Yarbrough has shifted between a starting role and a relief role throughout his career, but he's made all 19 of his appearances so far this year out of the bullpen. The southpaw has covered two or more innings in 11 of those outings, and overall he's posted a 3.11 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 22:16 K:BB over 46.1 frames.

Yarbrough could be available to cover multiple innings in relief for Wednesday's game in San Francisco while the Dodgers treat the series finale as a bullpen day, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
After Tuesday's 10-2 win, manager Dave Roberts said that no pitcher is "en route" from the minors to fill the hole in the rotation Wednesday, so the team will turn to a number of relievers to cover the innings. Yarbrough wasn't used in either of the first two games of the series in San Francisco and has covered three-plus innings on six other occasions this season, so he appears to be the Dodgers pitcher most likely to see heavy usage Wednesday.
