Rockies signed 1B Ryan Garko to a minor league contract. Garko, now 32, batted .297/.386/.441 with eight homers and an .827 OPS in 61 games last season with the Rays' Double-A affiliate. He hasn't appeared in the majors since 2010 and is likely to open 2013 at the Triple-A level.

Ryan Garko has elected free agency. The 31-year-old hasn't appeared in the big leagues since the 2010 season, but posted a respectable .297/.386/.441 line with eight homers and 40 RBI for Double-A Montgomery in 2012. He'll have to accept a minor league deal, but could find himself an invitation to spring training.
