Buchter was traded to the Royals on Monday, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Buchter was part of a six-player trade that ultimately sent him, Trevor Cahill and Brandon Maurer to Kansas City. Buchter pieced together another quality season out of the Padres' bullpen, posting a 3.05 ERA and an 11.0 K/9 in 38.1 innings pitched. He'll likely get plenty of high-leverage innings with his new team if he can continue pitching like that.

Buchter pitched a clean inning Thursday, picking up his 15th hold in a win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw gave up an earned run in each of his previous two outings, but he bounced back Thursday to convert his fourth hold over his last six appearances. Buchter's 3.22 ERA and 11.1 K/9 make him a viable option in holds formats, but he could see an increase in hold chances if the Padres end up trading Brad Hand before the deadline.

Buchter needed just six pitches to retire three batters and pick up his 11th hold of the season in Wednesday's win over the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Buchter continues to pitch well (3.10 ERA) despite carrying a 4.75 FIP. The veteran southpaw's 10/6 K/9 is strong, but his control (4.7 BB/9) and inability to keep the ball in the yard (1.6 HR/9) are holding him back from being an elite middle reliever.

Buchter struck out two batters in a scoreless inning against the Rockies on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old has been solid in relief for the Padres this season, posting a 3.18 ERA and nine holds over 22.2 innings. His lack of control (5.6 BB/9) and vulnerability to home runs (1.6 HR/9) have led to a 5.10 FIP, so he is by no means a safe middle relief option for fantasy purposes.

Buchter fired a perfect eighth inning en route to his fourth hold of the season in Friday's 6-3 win over White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old is proving that his breakout season in 2016 was no fluke, posting a 2.81 ERA and 0.88 WHIP through 16 innings this season. Buchter and fellow southpaw Brad Hand (1.37) have combined to form one of the more unconventional setup duos in the majors, and both are worth rostering in holds leagues for their strong ratios.

Buchter allowed three batters to reach base Wednesday, but held the Diamondbacks scoreless in his lone inning of work, notching a win in the the process.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old has been solid in a setup role this season, posting a 3.12 ERA and 1.15 WHIP through 8.2 innings. His peripherals indicate that he has been getting a little lucky early on, based off of his strikeouts being a bit down (8.3 K/9) and his home runs going up (2.1 HR/9), resulting in an unsavory 4.78 xFIP. Holds league owners shouldn't hit the panic button yet, as we would like to see Buchter get a larger sample size under his belt before assuming a regression is coming.

Buchter gave up a run on two hits Saturday, but he still managed to finish the job and notch his first save in a 2-1 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Regular closer, Brandon Maurer, was used in the Padres' two previous games, so manager Andy Green called upon Buchter to close out Saturday's win. The talented southpaw is still considered a setup man for San Diego, but he could vulture a couple saves when situations like Saturday's arise.

Buchter gave up a run in his lone inning of work Friday, but he still managed to notch his first hold of the season in a 7-6 loss to the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
The lone run was a solo home run off the bat of Brandon Belt. Outside of closer Brandon Maurer, the Padres' next best relievers are a pair of southpaws, so Buchter should see more hold opportunities than traditional left-handed setup men, at least until Carter Capps (elbow) returns from the disabled list.

Butcher was one of four pitchers manager Andy Green said were locks for the back end of his Opening Day bullpen.
EDGE Analysis
Butcher was the Padres' best southpaw out of the pen last season, posting a 2.86 ERA and an 11.1 K/9 while collecting 20 holds. He should serve a similar role this season as the team's left-handed setup man and be a decent source of holds in leagues that count them.

Buchter was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran lefty had been extremely effective in the big league prior to a mid-August run of outings that saw his spin rate noticeably dip, and he was then sent down to Triple-A. He only pitched one inning in 10 days with El Paso, so he was probably prescribed some rest with the hope that his stuff would bounce back. If he can regain his form, he could be used in the seventh and eighth inning in September, but he is unlikely to be called upon in any save situations.
