Borucki allowed two runs in six innings Sunday, giving up six hits and a walk while striking out five and taking the no-decision in the 7-4 win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
The 6-foot-4 rookie now owns a terrific 2.83 ERA in 35 innings this season with a disheartening 0-2 record to show for it. Borucki held Chicago scoreless for four innings before allowing a run in both the fifth and sixth frames. He'll carry a 28:11 K:BB into Friday's outing in Seattle.

Borucki (0-2) gave up two runs (zero earned) on six hits and zero walks while striking out two in six innings Tuesday against the Twins. He took the loss.
EDGE Analysis
He has now received 10 runs of support over his five big-league starts, with eight of those coming in a lone outing (July 13 at Boston), so his teammates haven't been doing him any favors at the plate. With Marco Estrada (hip) leaving a rehab start with a blister Tuesday, it seems likely that Borucki will get at least one more turn in the big-league rotation -- either Sunday against the White Sox or Monday against the A's.

Borucki was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo in advance of Tuesday's start against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old southpaw has a 3.52 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 21 strikeouts in 23 innings (four starts) with the big club. He has proven that he can be competent at times, but was never seen as a guy with high-end stuff in the minors, and his xFIP (4.13) along with most projections systems are predicting negative regression going forward. Marco Estrada (hip) may be able to return to the rotation this weekend, so this could end up being a spot start for Borucki.

Borucki was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This was a procedural move; the Blue Jays won't need a fifth starter until July 24. They decided to bring up some extra relief help in the meantime. Borucki is expected to return for that July 24 start against Minnesota. He's allowed nine earned runs while posting a 21:10 K:BB in 23 innings with the major-league team so far.

Borucki (0-1) allowed two runs on six hits in a loss to the Astros on Tuesday, striking out three and walking four in six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Making his major-league debut, Borucki pitched effectively against an Astros club that leads the majors with a .265 team batting average. The 24-year-old managed a quality start despite allowing four doubles and throwing just 55 of 95 pitches for strikes. In 13 starts at Triple-A this year Borucki has gone 6-5 with a 3.27 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. With Aaron Sanchez and Jaime Garcia slated to come off the disabled list soon, the rookie figures to return to the Triple-A squad or find work in the bullpen.

Borucki was called up as expected Tuesday and will make his major-league debut against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Borucki could hardly have asked for a tougher opponent in his first career outing. The 24-year-old has a solid 3.27 ERA in 13 starts for Triple-A Buffalo this season, though his 18.4 percent strikeout rate is mediocre at best. Borucki projects as a back end starter, with fringe command and a plus changeup backing up an average fastball. Gio Urshela was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Borucki was scratched from his scheduled start for Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday and is expected to replace Aaron Sanchez (finger) in the Blue Jays' rotation, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Providing further confirmation, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports that Borucki is being listed in the Astros' media notes as Toronto's probable starter for Tuesday's game in Houston. Borucki, a 24-year-old lefty, threw seven scoreless innings in his most recent start for Buffalo, lowering his ERA and WHIP to 3.27 and 1.17, respectively, through 77 innings this season. He lines up to oppose Charlie Morton in his major-league debut.

Borucki tossed seven shutout innings Tuesday in Game 1 of Triple-A Buffalo's doubleheader with Pawtucket. He gave up three hits and one walk and struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Since doubleheader games in the minors only last seven innings, Borucki technically recorded the first complete game in the International League this season. The 24-year-old left rocketed through the Blue Jays' farm system a season ago and has carried over that success from 2017 into the current campaign. He has posted a 3.27 ERA and 1.17 WHIP across 77 innings for Buffalo this season, though a 6.8 K/9 dampens some enthusiasm about his outlook in dynasty formats.

The Blue Jays optioned Borucki to Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Borucki rose quickly through four levels of the Blue Jays' system last season and entered spring training as one of the organization's top pitching prospects, but the lefty wasn't in serious contention for an Opening Day rotation spot. With few innings available for him in Grapefruit League play, Borucki will face minor-league hitters in spring games as he prepares for a likely assignment to Triple-A Buffalo to begin the 2018 campaign.

Borucki, who climbed his way from High-A Dunedin to Triple-A Buffalo in 2017, finished the year with an impressive 2.93 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 157:36 K:BB through 27 games (26 starts) and 150.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Entering this year, the left-hander had never moved beyond High-A during his first four professional seasons. That said, Borucki has managed a strong 3.32 ERA and 1.16 through 73 minor-league games, so he's proven capable of contributing at MiLB's higher levels. With more experience, and continued success, an MLB debut could be in the cards for Borucki next year.
