Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports that Royce Ring has signed with the independent league Long Island Ducks. Ring hasn't appeared in a major league game since the 2010 season but pitched well in limited duty last year in the minors with the Rockies. Obviously, the 32-year-old isn't close to putting on a big league uniform again.

Rockies signed LHP Royce Ring to a minor league contract. Ring hasn't appeared in a major league game since the 2010 season, when he allowed four earned runs in 2 1/3 innings of relief with the Yankees. He will serve as organizational relief depth in 2012 for the Rockies.

Red Sox signed LHP Royce Ring to a minor league contract. Ring suffered the loss in his first appearance with Triple-A Pawtucket on Monday night. The 30-year-old southpaw exercised the opt-out clause in his contract with the Mariners earlier this month after posting a 6.08 ERA and 33/11 K/BB ratio over 27 appearances with Triple-A Tacoma.
