Henriquez underwent a UCL reconstruction surgery with an internal brace procedure on his right elbow and will miss the 2026 season, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Henriquez appeared in line to compete for save chances heading into the 2026 campaign after putting together an impressive 2025 season. He posted a 2.22 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with a 98:27 K:BB and seven saves in 11 chances across 73.0 innings. However, he'll now shift his focus to rehabbing following a recent season-ending surgery. The Marlins expect him to be ready for next year's spring training, per an update from the team.

Henriquez allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and no walks while striking out one over 1.1 innings to earn the save in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Rockies.

Hernandez was brought in to protect the Marlins' three-run lead, and he needed 15 pitches (11 strikes) to get the job done. He has logged a save in each of his last three outings and appears to have taken the Marlins' closing gig from Calvin Faucher, who registered a hold after tossing a scoreless eighth. Hernandez has yielded just one earned run over his last 10 outings, which has brought him down to a 2.79 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 42 innings with 58 strikeouts this season.

Henriquez struck out two batters in a perfect inning to earn a save against the Twins on Tuesday.

Henriquez came into a 2-0 contest and retired Minnesota's 1-2-3 batters with ease on 13 pitches (eight strikes). It was his fourth save of the year and third since June 22. He's given up one run over his last 8.2 innings, dropping his season ERA to 2.85 with a 57:16 K:BB through 41 frames. Anthony Bender threw a scoreless eighth inning Tuesday, while Calvin Faucher did not appear in the victory.

Based on Sunday's usage pattern, Faucher, who has been the closer lately, appears to be set to enter games in the the most high-leverage moments, and that could give Henriquez some chances at ancillary saves. However, Miami is 37-45 on the year, and the team's relievers have combined for just 18 saves, so there may not be a lot of chances to go around.
