The Blue Jays activated Pina (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Thursday and outrighted him to Triple-A Buffalo.
EDGE Analysis
Pina was recalled and immediately placed on the 60-day IL with a UCL sprain in September as a means to free up a spot on the 40-man roster. The righty did not require surgery and could be ready for spring training, but it would now be as a non-roster invitee.

The Blue Jays recalled Pina from Triple-A Buffalo and placed him on the 60-day injured list Tuesday with a right elbow UCL sprain.
EDGE Analysis
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Ryan Borucki. Pina hasn't pitched since the beginning of August and will not return this season, although at this point it appears he will not have surgery.

Triple-A Buffalo placed Pina on its 7-day injured list Aug. 6 due to an unspecified injury.
EDGE Analysis
After Toronto optioned him to Triple-A on July 21, Pina made three appearances for Buffalo before being shelved with the injury. The right-hander is without a clear timeline to return from the 7-day IL.

The Blue Jays optioned Pina to Triple-A Buffalo on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Pina had been with the big club for more than two weeks but made only one appearance during that time, allowing three runs (one earned) over 1.1 innings. Lefty Mason Fluharty was recalled from Triple-A to take Pina's spot in the bullpen.

The Blue Jays recalled Pina from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Since being traded to Toronto in late June, Pina has given up one run over two innings at Buffalo. He'll now return to the big leagues as the roster replacement for the injured Yimi Garcia, though Pina doesn't project to pitch outside of low-leverage situations with the Jays.

The Marlins traded Pina to the Blue Jays on Tuesday in exchange for minor-league pitcher Colby Martin, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pina was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Saturday, but he will keep a 40-man roster spot upon switching organizations. The 26-year-old righty pitched one inning in his MLB debut Friday, giving up a solo home run in the process, and he'll likely head back to Triple-A to begin his tenure with the Blue Jays.
