Diamondbacks purchased the contract of C Robby Hammock from Triple-A Reno. Hammock hasn't appeared in the big leagues since 2008 as a member of the D-Backs, where he spent parts of five seasons. The 34-year-old backstop batted .257/.353/.495 with five homers, 21 RBI and an .848 OPS over 120 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this season. He'll function as a third catcher and utility player down the stretch.
