Tigers released RHP Robbie Weinhardt. The 27-year-old right-hander went 3-0 with a 2.83 ERA in 26 appearances with Triple-A Toledo this past season, including a 0.47 ERA in nine outings after the All-Star break. A former respected relief prospect, Weinhardt was about to hit the open market as a six-year minor league free agent. He was flogged to the tune of a 6.39 ERA in 30 career MLB appearances. A change of scenery might do the northpaw well.
