Refsnyder was sent outright to Texas' alternate camp site Thursday.

EDGE Analysis

Refsnyder will remain in the Rangers organization after passing through waivers untouched. In 30 at-bats prior to being DFA'd, the utilityman hit .200/.265/.233.

Refsnyder was designated for assignment by the Rangers on Monday.

EDGE Analysis

Refsnyder had a fairly consistent spot in the starting lineup to begin the season, but his playing time dipped in recent games. He'll now be removed from the 40-man roster after slashing .200/.265/.233 with one RBI and 11 strikeouts over 30 at-bats this year. It's unclear whether he'll find a spot with another organization. Leody Taveras was recalled from the team's alternate training site in a corresponding move to fill Refsnyder's role in the outfield.

Refsnyder went 2-for-4 in Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Giants.

EDGE Analysis

Refsnyder has made only three appearances this season, but he has hit safely in each one of those games. It's hard to trust him on a regular basis due to his lack of playing time, but he is making an impact in a limited role early on.

Refsnyder started at first base and went 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored in Sunday's 5-2 loss to Colorado.

EDGE Analysis

Three games into the season and the Rangers have deployed three different first basemen. That's the result of Todd Frazier moving to third base for games Saturday and Sunday while Isiah Kiner-Falefa (hamstring) was unavailable. Ronald Guzman started Saturday against a right-hander and Refsnyder was in the lineup against a left-hander. Texas manager Chris Woodward is hopeful Kiner-Falefa will return Tuesday after Monday's off day, per T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com.

Refsnyder will be included on the Rangers' Opening Day roster, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.

EDGE Analysis

Refsnyder joined Texas as a non-roster invitee in November and made a strong impression before spring training was shut down. The 29-year-old last appeared in the majors with Tampa Bay in 2019 and had a .877 OPS at Triple-A last season.

Refsnyder was named to the Rangers' 60-man player pool Sunday.

EDGE Analysis

Refsnyder trained with the Rangers in spring training as a non-roster invitee and made a positive impression before MLB paused the season. He's an ideal add to any team's player pool. The 29-year-old outfielder, who has history at second and first base, played parts of four seasons in the majors before spending the entirety of 2019 in the minors with the Diamondbacks and Reds.

Refsnyder signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Wednesday that includes an invite to spring training, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

EDGE Analysis

In 85 games with Triple-A Louisville last season, Refsnyder slashed .315/.377/.500 with 10 home runs and 45 RBI, but he has failed to translate his minor-league production into major-league success. He carries a .218/.308/.302 slash line with four home runs through 166 games over four partial big-league seasons. While his contract includes an invitation to spring training, it would be somewhat surprising to see him take on a consistent role in the Rangers' outfield, given his lack of success in the past.

Cincinnati released Refsynder from his minor-league contract Tuesday, Andersen Pickard of MLBDailyDish.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

The 28-year-old utility man was an above-average regular during his time in the Triple-A ranks this season, slashing .312/.374/.492 across 338 plate appearances (122 wRC+). He shouldn't have trouble landing another minor-league deal elsewhere, though he may have to wait until the offseason to find a new organization.

Refsnyder was traded from the Diamondbacks to the Reds on Sunday for a player to be named later or cash.

EDGE Analysis

Refsnyder signed a minor-league deal with Arizona in November and went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in his lone appearance with Triple-A Reno. The 28-year-old slashed .167/.314/.274 in 40 games with the Rays last season and will report to Triple-A Louisville.

Refsnyder was assigned to minor-league camp Friday.

EDGE Analysis

Refsnyder was invited to big-league camp when he signed his minor-league deal back in November, though he was never particularly likely to break camp with the team. His career .218/.308/.302 slash line in 166 games makes him best suited for an organizational depth role.
