Messenger had arguably the best year of his career in 2014, going 13-10 over 2018.1 IP, and leading his league in strikeouts with 226. Messenger has improved in each of his five NPB seasons. His contract should keep in Japan for at least two more years.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that Randy Messenger has officially re-signed with the Hanshin Tigers on a three-year deal. He posted a 2.89 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 183/56 K/BB ratio over 196 1/3 innings in 2013.

Randy Messenger has set a Nov. 15 deadline for MLB teams to submit offers, according his agent Matt Sosnick. The Hanshin Tigers have a three-year, $15 million contract offer on the table to keep Messenger in Japan, and the club obviously wants a response in the near future. The right-hander would accept a two-year deal worth between $8 to $10 million to return to America. Sosnick has fielded multiple offers from MLB teams, but none has included a second guaranteed season. The 6-foot-6, 260-pound Messenger has revitalized his career across the globe. He logged a 2.89 ERA with 183 strikeouts in 196 1/3 frames this past season. Messenger was a reliever with the Marlins, Giants and Mariners between 2005-09.

According to Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors, the Hanshin Tigers have made a three-year offer in the $15 million range to keep Randy Messenger in Japan. That's big-time money for a Nippon Professional Baseball team. Messenger, a native of Reno, Nevada, has revitalized his career overseas and was expected to try to return to Major League Baseball this winter. But it seems Hanshin has made him an offer that he can't refuse.
