Davis was informed Thursday that he will make the Indians' Opening Day roster, T.J. Zuppe of The Athletic Cleveland reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis will serve as a reserve outfielder for the Indians after beating out Melvin Upton, Greg Allen and Tyler Naquin for that role. The 37-year-old is no longer a plus on defense and he hit just .235/.293/.348 across 117 games with the A's and Red Sox last season, but his speed keeps him around as a worthwhile asset -- he stole 29 bases on 36 attempts in just 366 plate appearances in 2017.

Davis has agreed to a minor-league deal with the Indians that includes an invitation to spring training, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis, who is probably best known for the home run he hit off Aroldis Chapman as a member of the Indians in the 2016 World Series, is entering his age-37 season and his career seems to be winding down. He spent most of last year with the A's before finishing the season with a 17-game run with the Red Sox. He was exactly a replacement-level player over that span (0.0 fWAR), as he is no longer a defensive asset and hit just .235/.293/.348. His top skill remains his ability to steal bases -- he stole 29 bags on 36 attempts in just 366 plate appearances last season. That speed makes him useful in fantasy leagues as long as he's seeing semi-regular playing time. However, he will face an uphill battle in that regard this season. Tyler Naquin, Mevlin Upton and Greg Allen will also be competing for a bench outfielder role during spring training.

Davis started in right field Wednesday and went 2-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 10-7 win over the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Davis filled in for the injured Mookie Betts (wrist) on Wednesday after Chris Young started in right Tuesday night. Betts was available as a pinch hitter Wednesday, suggesting a return to the lineup is imminent. Until Betts is ready, you can expect Davis to start against right-handers and Young against lefties. The Red Sox will face Houston right-hander Brad Peacock on Thursday, so it could be a night for Davis.

Davis went 2-for-4 with a pair of steals and a pair of runs scored against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The swipes were his first since being traded to the Red Sox last week. Davis is seeing only spotty playing time in his new digs, and his usage will diminish further when Jackie Bradley (thumb) returns from the DL, which could happen as soon as this weekend. That reality doesn't offer much upside for fantasy purposes, though the speedster may see a good amount of pinch-running duty in September.

Davis was traded to the Red Sox in exchange for minor-league outfielder Rafael Rincones, Evan Drellich of CSN New England reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jackie Bradley (thumb) is on the shelf with a thumb issue, so the Red Sox decided to bring in Davis to man center field in his absence. Davis has stepped it up recently after a slow start to the season, slashing .303/.361/.487 with 11 steals in 30 games since the All-Star break. He'll likely return to the bench when Bradley returns from the DL, but he'll still offer speed and a veteran bat off the bench for the Red Sox. The hope is that Davis will join the team in Cleveland on Thursday.

Davis is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Orioles, Ron Kroichick of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jaycob Brugman was recently optioned down, but it doesn't look like that will result in Davis seeing more playing time, as Boog Powell seems to have taken over the large side of the platoon in center. Davis started Friday against a right-hander, but only after Powell was scratched due to illness.

Davis is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Jaycob Brugman will return to center field following back-to-back starts against lefties by Davis to close out the Giants series. The center-field platoon seems fairly well established at this point, with Davis starting almost exclusively against southpaws. Lefty Tyler Skaggs is due up for the Angels on Saturday.

Davis went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 11-2 loss to the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Davis' eighth-inning blast was the most notable highlight on a forgettable night overall for the Oakland offense. The veteran outfielder's .232/.292/.358 line leaves plenty to be desired, but he's now hit safely in four of the last five games, a stretch in which he's also socked two of his five round trippers on the season.

Davis is out of the lineup Sunday against the Twins, Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis ignited the Athletics on Saturday with a 4-for-5 showing that included a double and a home run, but it doesn't look like it will change his standing as a part-time player. Now that Jaycob Brugman has recovered from a neck injury, he looks poised to handle the larger side of a platoon with Davis in center field.

Davis will start in center field and bat ninth Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Davis will make his third consecutive start and second straight against right-handed pitching with Jaycob Brugman (neck) hurting. The Athletics are still labeling Brugman as day-to-day, so assuming he shows enough improvement to avoid a DL stint, Davis' run of regular playing time could be short lived. Davis should still remain a fixture in the lineup against left-handed pitching once Brugman is healthy.
