Evans will start at third base and bat sixth against the Cardinals on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Evans has an opportunity for playing time, provided he can replicate the offense he's shown at the minor-league level. Colin Moran, who started at third base Friday, will serve as the team's designated hitter Saturday.

Evans will break summer camp as part of Pittsburgh's 30-man roster.
EDGE Analysis
The backup gives manager Derek Shelton versatility in the field and pop at the plate. Evans has previously struggled at the major league level but likely has the best opportunity of his career. If he does show any power then he could earn additional playing time on a power-lacking team.

Evans went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in Monday's game against Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
The Pirates are looking for power and Evans' dinger off of a 94-mph Mike Clevinger fastball may have secured him a spot on the big-league team. His ability to play multiple positions -- he played at both third base and right field Monday -- also gives the non-roster invitee a chance to make the Opening Day 30-man roster. The 27-year-old hit 17 homers at the Triple-A level in 2019 and would likely serve as a bat off the bench.

The Pirates added Evans to their 60-man player pool.
EDGE Analysis
Evans has the ability to play first base, second base and third base, giving him the defensive flexibility Pittsburgh is looking for. He's spent the majority of time toiling at the Triple-A level over the last three campaigns, however, and it remains to be seen whether he'll see any action with the Pirates.

Evans signed with the Pirates as a non-roster invitee Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old has 34 major-league games under his belt, all for the Mets in 2017 and 2018. He spent 2019 at Triple-A Iowa in the Cubs' system, hitting .283/.371/.470 (good for a 106 wRC+).

The Cubs reassigned Evans to their minor-league camp Saturday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Evans was one of 15 players sent packing from big-league camp as the Cubs trimmed their spring roster down to 40. The 26-year-old's lack of a 40-man roster spot hurts his chances of immediately resurfacing in the big leagues in 2019, but his ability to play the outfield and all over the diamond could come in handy when the Cubs inevitably lose position players to the injured list.

Evans (knee) agreed to a minor-league contract with the Cubs on Wednesday, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Evans should be back to full health by the time spring training rolls around, but he did miss the last two months of the 2018 season due to a fractured left tibia. The infielder played in 15 games for the Mets, going 3-for-21 with one RBI and one steal in his time with the major-league club. Evans will provide some added depth for the Cubs at the Triple-A level.

Evans (knee) chose to become a free agent after getting outrighted from the Mets' 40-man roster Friday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Evans played in just 34 games across the last two season for the Mets, going 13-for-54 with two doubles and a pair of RBI during his brief opportunity in the big leagues. The 26-year-old was forced to miss the final two months of the season after fracturing his left tibia, but he's expected to be fully operational prior to spring training.

Evans was moved to the 60-day disabled list Friday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barring a highly unlikely run to the postseason, this move will sideline Evans for the remainder of the 2018 season since he initially hit the DL on Aug. 2. Evans will concentrate on recovering from a fractured left tibia over the next couple months, though there shouldn't be any concern regarding his availability for next year. In a subsequent move, the Mets selected the contract of Daniel Zamora and placed Bobby Wahl (hamstring) on the 10-day disabled list.

EDGE Analysis
Evans said that he will have a check-up with his doctor in a month to see what progress has been made, so there's a chance he will return to the field this season. The infielder suffered the injury during Wednesday's game when Adam Eaton slid into second base in the first inning. In a corresponding move, the club activated Todd Frazier (ribs) from the DL.
