The Padres signed Reyes to a minor-league contract Nov. 6.
EDGE Analysis
Reyes had a .468 OPS in 24 games with the Yankees in 2025 but spent most of the season at Triple-A Syracuse in the Mets organization. The 32-year-old is a career .245/.305/.342 hitter across parts of seven major-league seasons and will provide the Padres with some utility depth at Triple-A El Paso.

The Mets released Reyes on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Reyes spent time in the majors with the Yankees earlier in the season, but he never saw big-league action with the Mets after joining the organization in late June on a minor-league deal. Over 44 games with Triple-A Syracuse, Reyes slashed .289/.385/.484 with six home runs and four stolen bases before getting cut loose.

Reyes signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Saturday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reyes elected free agency Friday after being DFA'd by the Yankees, and he won't have to travel far to join his next organization. The 31-year-old infielder slashed .194/.242/.226 over 34 plate appearances during his time in the Bronx and will report to Triple-A Syracuse to begin his tenure with the Mets.

Reyes elected free agency Friday in lieu of accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre.
EDGE Analysis
Reyes was jettisoned from the Yankees' 40-man roster Monday in order to make room for the returning Giancarlo Stanton. Reyes was initially outrighted to Triple-A after clearing waivers Wednesday, but he will instead hit the free-agent market and look to a join a team in need of veteran depth in the infield. Reyes appeared in 25 games for the Yankees this season and slashed .194/.242/.226 with one steal and two RBI in 34 plate appearances.

The Yankees outrighted Reyes to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Reyes cleared waivers after being designated for assignment. He has the ability to elect free agency, but it's not clear what the utility player's plans are. If Reyes stick around in the Yankees organization, he'll give the club experienced depth at SWB.

The Yankees designated Reyes for assignment Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The transaction clears a spot on the 26-man active roster and 40-man roster for designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (elbows), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list. Reyes had been with the Yankees since Opening Day but played sparingly in a utility role, slashing just .194/.242/.226 over 34 plate appearances.

The Yankees selected Reyes' contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Reyes earned his spot on the Yankees' Opening Day roster through an excellent performance in the Grapefruit League, slashing .311/.418/.467 with five RBI, eight runs scored and two stolen bases through 55 plate appearances. He figures to come off the bench most days while in the Bronx, but his ability to play every position in the field improves his chances of occasionally cracking the starting lineup. Jake Cousins (elbow) was placed on the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.

Reyes appears to have surpassed Oswald Peraza on the Yankees' depth chart and is a "strong candidate" to make the team's Opening Day roster, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reyes would fill two needs -- a right-handed bench bat and a player capable of playing both third base and left field -- if he makes the Yankees' roster. The 32-year-old has also had an excellent spring, as a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate Monday lifted his slash line to .326/.434/.488. Unlike Peraza (who is slashing just .167/.273/.188 this spring), Reyes isn't currently on the 40-man roster, but Kirschner speculates that New York may end of designating Peraza for assignment, as he's out of minor-league options. If Reyes does get a spot on the Opening Day roster, he'd be unlikely to play every day but could get semi-regular opportunities given his ability to play across both the infield and outfield.

The Yankees signed Reyes to a minor-league contract Monday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 31-year-old utility player hit .287/.339/.377 as a part-timer in Boston in 2023 but slashed only .183/.234/.217 between the Red Sox and Mets in 2024. Reyes has started a game at every position on the diamond other than catcher and pitcher, so he will bring plenty of versatility to the table as a depth piece for the Yankees.

The Mets outrighted Reyes to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets DFA'd Reyes on Monday and the shortstop cleared waivers, opening up the opportunity for him to remain in the Mets organization. The 30-year-old was traded from Boston to New York in May, but he's yet to log an at-bat for the Metropolitans.
