The Marlins acquired Caissie, Cristian Hernandez and Edgardo De Leon from the Cubs on Wednesday in exchange for Edward Cabrera, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Caissie has nothing left to prove in the minors, having slashed .281/.380/.507 with 41 home runs at Triple-A Iowa over the last two seasons. The 23-year-old struggled in his cup of coffee with the Cubs in 2025 and has posted a 29.1 percent strikeout rate in the minors, but Caissie's power will play in the majors if he makes enough contact. He's the favorite to open the 2026 season as the Marlins' primary right fielder.

The Cubs are currently projecting regular playing time for Caissie next season, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.

The club would also like to give Moises Ballesteros a chance to play regularly, though one of Caissie, Ballesteros and Seiya Suzuki will have to sit out most days. He'll compete for a spot on the Cubs' Opening Day roster in spring training, though Caissie's chances of beginning the 2026 campaign in an everyday role with the big club could be determined by whether Chicago either re-signs Kyle Tucker or brings aboard another high-profile corner outfielder or designated hitter over the winter.

Just one day after being recalled from Triple-A Iowa, Caissie will be deactivated after he sustained a concussion when he collided with the outfield wall on a catch in the third inning of Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Rays. Chicago recalled Kevin Alcantara from Iowa to provide the team with another option in the outfield while Seiya Suzuki (illness) is day-to-day and Kyle Tucker (calf) is on the 10-day IL.

Caissie was removed from Saturday's game against the Rays due to concussion symptoms, Jared Wyllys of AllCHGO.com reports.

Caissie's head collided with the outfield wall while he made a catch in the third inning, and manager Craig Counsell said the outfielder's condition only declined after that point. The rookie will hit the bench for the series finale after he picked up starts in the corner outfield in the first four contests of the five-game set, going 4-for-11 with one home run, one walk, four RBI and three runs. The last three of Caissie's starts came while the slumping Kyle Tucker received an extended break, but Tucker will make his return to the lineup Thursday. Tucker, Ian Happ, Seiya Suzuki and Pete Crow-Armstrong should continue to handle everyday roles between the outfield and the designated-hitter spot moving forward, but manager Craig Counsell could opt to give any of those players a day or two off per week in order to open up semi-regular playing time for Caissie.

A day after recording his first MLB hit, Caissie smashed his first MLB home run in Tuesday's first game, then scored and drove in another run in the nightcap before getting lifted for a pinch hitter. The young outfielder is starting to display his offensive upside after going hitless in his first five at-bats in the majors. It remains to be seen how much playing time Caissie will be able to earn the rest of the way as part of a deep Chicago roster, but when he's in the lineup, the 23-year-old offers immense potential to fantasy managers.
