Reimold's chances of making Baltimore's roster dipped after the Orioles signed Pedro Alvarez Monday, but he can play the corner outfield positions and he could make the roster as the fourth or fifth outfielder, MASN Sports reports.

With the Alvarez signing, the Orioles seem set to start Mark Trumbo in the outfield. The problem for Reimold is that he does not play center field and cannot back up Adam Jones at the position. The Orioles also have Joey Rickard vying for a roster spot and he can play the position. This means Reimold should be down to the final roster spot.

Reimold was in Tuesday's lineup as the DH and the Orioles appear to be easing him into playing right field to take it easy on his shoulder, MASN Sports reports. "With the shoulder (Reimold) had last year, we're taking it real slow with him, but I want him to get his at-bats," manager Buck Showalter said.

Keep in mind the Orioles want to get a look at Mark Trumbo in right field, so it is not necessarily a surprise to see Reimold not playing in the field. Reimold was healthy all of 2015, as he shuttled back and forth between the Orioles and Triple-A. However, he was designated for assignment as late in the season as August, so the Orioles may not be as tied to the 32-year-old Reimold as they might make it seem. Reimold has hit just .226 in 367 at-bats since 2013 at the MLB level.

Reimold signed a one-year contract with the Orioles on Wednesday, avoiding arbitration, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.

EDGE Analysis

If the season were to start Thursday, Reimold may open the year as the team's starting left fielder, but it's still relatively early in the offseason. The 32-year-old is probably best suited for a utility role, having hit .247 with a .394 slugging percentage in 61 games for the Orioles last season. He's also had a hard time staying on the field throughout his career due to various injuries.

Reimold is not in the lineup Monday against the Blue Jays, Roch Kubatko of MASN reports.

Reimold has seen regular starts in the DH role, but after going 0-for-6 in the last two games to drop his average to .237 on the year, he'll get the day off Monday. Steve Clevenger will serve as the team's DH and bat fifth in his place.

Reimold owns a 1.127 OPS this month, but manager Buck Showalter decided to give him a day off after he went 1-for-4 with three strikeouts Monday. Steve Pearce will get the nod in left field for the Orioles on Tuesday night.

Remiold is hitting .360/.500/.720 with three home runs since being promoted on September 6.

EDGE Analysis

Reimold has six walks and four strikeouts over the same timeframe and has been deployed in the leadoff position for now. Of course, his line in August was .185/.214/.185 in 27 at-bats with just one walk and seven strikeouts before being sent back down. He is a hot bat who is auditioning for a role in 2016 as the Orioles are realistically almost eliminated from the postseason.

Reimold went 1-for-3, drew two walks and scored three runs against the Yankees on Wednesday.

EDGE Analysis

Reimold has been terrifically useful in four games since being recalled from Triple-A, having collected four hits (including a homer), two walks and six runs. He's started in left field and batted leadoff in the last two games, and the Orioles faced both a righty (Masahiro Tanaka) and a lefty (CC Sabathia) in those contests. That may become an ongoing arrangement in the near future, helping Reimold carve out AL-only and daily-league value.

EDGE Analysis

The 31-year-old will provide the Orioles with another option off their bench as they try to contend for a wild card berth. His bat hasn't exactly been its best in 2015, with a .227/.306/.340 line, but he could still see pinch hit opportunities.
