Nick Markakis (hamate bone surgery) went 2-for-3 with two homers and four RBI in his first rehab game for Double-A Bowie. The plan is for Markakis to remain there and play in rehab games through Monday, then return to the Orioles for Thursday's team workout. If all goes according to plan, he should be active and in the lineup when the O's begin the second half of the season on Friday.

Nick Markakis (hamate bone surgery) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment Friday with Double-A Bowie. Markakis has progressed well during batting practice this week, so the Orioles have cleared him for game action. He's slated to play with Bowie through the weekend and should be activated from the disabled list for the first game after the All-Star break. The 28-year-old outfielder had a broken hamate bone removed from his right hand in early June.

Nick Markakis (wrist) said Friday he could return before the All-Star break. "It's getting there," Markakis said. "I'd like to get in some games before the break, and this way, I'm [ready] going into the second half." Markakis is recovering from wrist surgery and has yet to resume baseball activities. He could be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment as soon as next week, but would have to show notable progress to return before the All-Star break.

Nick Markakis is scheduled to have his right wrist examined Friday. If the wound is deemed to be fully healed, Markakis will start to ramp up baseball activities. Still, it's considered a longshot that he'll return prior to the All-Star break.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter told reporters on Tuesday afternoon that he doesn't expect Nick Markakis (hand surgery) to return before the All-Star break. Markakis is on track to begin swinging a bat later this week but still has a couple weeks of rehab to go before he'll be cleared for a live game. The 28-year-old had a broken hamate bone removed from his right hand earlier this month. He was batting .256/.333/.452 before the injury.

Nick Markakis (hand) will not swing a bat this weekend. Markakis originally hoped to swing a bat on Friday, but he's now aiming to get clearance from the team by Monday or Tuesday. The wound from his hamate bone surgery isn't completely healed yet, so the slight delay is understandable. While he'll require a minor league rehab assignment, he still hopes to rejoin the O's by the All-Star break.

Nick Markakis (hamate bone surgery) is not expected to pick up a bat until Friday. Markakis underwent surgery on June 1 to remove a broken hamate bone from his right hand. He's going to need a brief minor league rehab assignment, likely with the O's short-season affiliate in Aberdeen, before being cleared to return from the disabled list. If all goes well, he should back by the end of the month.
