The Cubs recalled Pearson from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Mike McGraw of the Chicago Daily Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander has made just one appearance with the Cubs since late April, but he's back in the big leagues Tuesday with Michael Soroka (shoulder) heading to the injured list. Pearson has struggled in his nine big-league outings this year with a 12.66 ERA, 2.53 WHIP and 6:9 K:BB over 10.2 innings.

The Cubs optioned Pearson to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Pearson's stay with the Cubs lasted just two days, with the right-hander getting sent back to Iowa after he was roughed up for five earned runs on five hits and two walks over two innings while mopping up in Sunday's 14-6 loss to the Mariners. Chicago called up right-hander Michael Fulmer from Iowa to take Pearson's spot in the bullpen.

The Cubs recalled Pearson from Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Since being optioned to Triple-A in mid-April, Pearson has turned in a 2.22 ERA and 1.33 WHIP across 24.1 innings. His turnaround will buy him another shot in the Cubs' bullpen, where he will replace Genesis Cabrera, who was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

The Cubs optioned Pearson to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander was a key bullpen piece down the stretch for the Cubs last season with a 2.73 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 23:4 K:BB across 26.1 innings, but he surrendered 10 earned runs across his first eight outings of 2025 to earn the demotion. Pearson could rejoin the big club later in the year if he can get back on track at Triple-A.

The Cubs and Pearson avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.35 million contract on Thursday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pearson posted a 2.73 ERA in 19 appearances after being acquired by the Cubs at the trade deadline, although that came with just 23 strikeouts in 26.1 innings. The former top prospect could potentially find himself working in high-leverage spots out of the Cubs' bullpen in 2025.

Pearson is slated to serve as the Cubs' opener for Monday's game against the Phillies, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
If Pearson is indeed confirmed to be the opener for Monday's game, it would be his first major-league start since 2021 when he was playing with Toronto. Hayden Wesneski, who was activated from the 15-day injured list Friday, is a candidate to follow in bulk relief once Pearson is done for the day. Pearson was traded by the Blue Jays to the Cubs in late July, and since the move, the 28-year-old right-hander has posted a 3.13 ERA and 0.96 WHP across 23 innings.

Pearson (2-2) allowed two runs on four hits across 1.1 innings of relief to take the loss Wednesday against the Athletics. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Pearson continued his recent struggles, as he gave up runs for the third straight outing, and this was the worst appearance of the bunch. The righty has seen his ERA creep up to 4.76, and he's simply been too volatile to be trusted in most fantasy formats. Pearson will continue to have a role for the Cubs out of the bullpen as the regular season wraps up, though he should mostly see low-leverage work.

Pearson (2-1) tossed two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win in Saturday's 3-2 victory over the Blue Jays. He allowed one hit and two walks while striking out one.
EDGE Analysis
Pearson beat his former team to earn his second win of the season, both of which have come since he got traded to the Cubs on July 27. The righty has also posted a strong 2.89 ERA and 0.86 WHIP across 9.1 innings for Chicago. By contrast, he had a 5.63 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 40 innings for Toronto. It remains to be seen if Pearson can keep this level of play up, but so far he's been a solid addition for the Cubs.

Pearson allowed a solo home run across 1.1 innings of relief in Monday's 7-1 loss to the Reds. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Pearson was making his team debut after coming over from the Blue Jays on Saturday in exchange for prospects Josh Rivera and Yohendrick Pinango. The 27-year-old righty has mostly struggled this season with a 5.66 ERA across 41.1 innings, though he does have 52 strikeouts. Pearson should settle into a middle relief role for the Cubs moving forward.

The Blue Jays traded Pearson to the Cubs on Saturday in exchange for Josh Rivera and Yohendrick Pinango, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pearson, a first-round pick out of Central Florida CC in 2017, made his major-league debut with the Blue Jays in 2020. Across 41 outings this season, Pearson has a 5.63 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 51:17 K:BB across 40 innings, though he has given up six runs across his last three appearances, including four runs against the Diamondbacks on July 13. He'll join a Chicago bullpen that has seven relievers on the injured list, including five on the 60-day IL. The 27-year-old Pearson will be under team control through 2026, per Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune.
