White Sox general manager Chris Getz said Wednesday that he expects Vasil to remain in the bullpen next season, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Vasil was a starter throughout his time in the minors with the Mets before the White Sox plucked him in the Rule 5 Draft last offseason, so he'd be capable of getting stretched out. However, Getz and the White Sox like the versatility Vasil provides in the bullpen, with his ability to eat multiple innings and appear in high-leverage situations, depending on what is needed. Vasil has posted a 2.45 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 77:47 K:BB over 95.2 innings, picking up five wins, four saves and two holds along the way.

Vasil pitched a clean inning with one strikeout to collect the save in Sunday's 6-4 win at Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
Just when it looked like Jordan Leasure was cementing the White Sox closer role, manager Will Venable threw a wrench into everything Sunday. Leasure pitched the eighth against the heart of the Tigers order (Riley Greene, Spencer Torkelson, Wenceel Perez and Dillon Dingler), leaving the ninth for Vasil. The 25-year-old figures to continue garnering occasional save opportunities, as it looks like Leasure is being used in a high-leverage role. Vasil now sports a solid 2.54 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 74:46 K:BB across 92 total frames.

Vasil earned the save in Sunday's 3-2 victory over the Yankees, pitching a clean inning with one strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
The White Sox right-hander fired 12 pitches, eight of which were strikes, to succinctly close out this contest. Vasil became the fourth different Chicago reliever to tally a save in August, with Jordan Leasure, Grant Taylor and Steven Wilson all also notching saves during the month while the team employs a closer-by-committee approach. Vasil has been a dependable arm with a 2.50 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 72:45 K:BB across 90 total frames and should continue to garner occasional save opportunities.

Vasil (5-3) earned the win Wednesday over the Phillies, allowing three hits while striking out three over four scoreless innings.
EDGE Analysis
Vasil managed to keep a high-powered Phillies offense at bay before the White Sox rallied for seven runs in the seventh inning en route to a 9-3 victory. The 25-year-old Vasil has been excellent of late, posting a 0.61 ERA over his last seven appearances (14.2 innings). Overall, his ERA sits at an impressive 2.35 with a 1.22 WHIP and 51:36 K:BB across 69 innings in his rookie campaign.

Vasil picked up the save Sunday against the Giants, allowing one walk and no hits with one strikeout over 1.2 scoreless innings.
EDGE Analysis
Vasil has been a multi-inning option for the White Sox recently, going at least three innings in each of his last seven appearances (three starts). However, he got the ball in a high-leverage scenario Sunday, taking over for Tyler Gilbert in the eighth inning with one out and the bases loaded. Vasil induced a double play to escape from the jam and then shut the door on the Giants in the ninth frame for his second save of the campaign. Vasil's been one of the White Sox's most reliable arms this season, holding a 2.73 ERA over 56 innings.

Vasil (3-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and no walks while striking out one in 5.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Vasil was very efficient out of the bullpen after the White Sox went with an opener. He needed just 54 pitches to complete five scoreless innings but was pulled in the seventh after the Diamondbacks put two on with one out, leading to a three-run frame. It was a career-long effort from Vasil, who's now pitched at least three innings in seven straight outings. Vasil lowered his ERA to a 2.82 across 54.1 innings and has been effective as a long reliver for the majority of the season.

Vasil is a candidate to serve as a bulk reliever behind opening pitcher Jordan Leasure in Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Jack Ankony of SI.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After opening the season in the White Sox bullpen, Vasil has started in each of his last three appearances, covering 11 innings and allowing eight earned runs on 14 hits and six walks while striking out 11. The rookie right-hander is expected to move back into a more traditional relief role once Jonathan Cannon (back) returns from the injured list, but Vasil will likely be called upon to cover multiple innings out of the bullpen Tuesday once Leasure exits the contest. Tyler Alexander will also be available Tuesday on three days' rest and could be another candidate to cover multiple frames in relief, if needed.

Vasil did not factor into the decision in Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, allowing six runs on seven hits and one walk with six strikeouts over 3.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Vasil opened with two scoreless innings but was tagged for six runs before failing to escape the fourth. He recorded a season-high six strikeouts but also surrendered two home runs for the first time in 21 appearances. On the season, the rookie owns a 2.94 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and a 38:27 K:BB across 49 innings. It has yet to be confirmed whether he will make another start or return to his long relief role.

Vasil picked up a no-decision after throwing four shutout innings, allowing two hits and four walks while striking out four during Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Walks were an issue for Vasil, but he battled through it to post four zeros on the scoreboard. Four innings was his longest outing on the season, and he sports a very solid 1.99 ERA in 45.1 innings, but the 25-year-old seems destined to head back to the bullpen with the White Sox rotation suddenly getting very crowded with the addition of Aaron Civale via trade Friday.

Vasil is slated to start Saturday's game against the Rangers in Arlington.
EDGE Analysis
Vasil will make his second straight start and his third turn in a row through the rotation after making a bulk-relief appearance June 4, but he could soon be headed back to the bullpen. With the acquisition of Aaron Civale on Friday, the White Sox now have six starters, and the rotation will become more crowded once Jonathan Cannon (back) returns from the injured list. Vasil has yet to work more than four innings in an appearance this season, but he's recorded between nine and 11 outs in each of his last four outings.
