Tauchman is back in the lineup after getting Saturday off. The return of Cody Bellinger has complicated the playing time equation, though he can also play first base, as is the case Sunday. Bellinger will still likely see the bulk of his time in center moving forward, which would probably push Tauchman into more of a reserve role. He started off hot for the Cubs but is batting just .150 over his last 15 games.

Tauchman has continued playing regularly and batting leadoff against right-handers even after Cody Bellinger returned to center field, having started four of the last five games. That's been due in part to Seiya Suzuki being a little banged up, but the Cubs clearly like his .367 on-base percentage in the leadoff spot.

Tauchman was 0-for-3 before he delivered a home run in the eighth inning, his second in the last three games. The outfielder had no long balls in 26 games before then, so the power has come out of nowhere recently. Tauchman has been a pleasant surprise as Chicago's leadoff man with .295 batting average and .805 OPS on the season.

Tauchman once again had a productive day from the leadoff spot, as he's now batting .324 over his last 10 games with 10 runs scored and seven RBI. The veteran has taken over as the team's primary option in center field lately as well, with Cody Bellinger playing at first base now that he's healthy. The Cubs likely won't try to fix what's not broken, so Tauchman should stick as the leadoff hitter for the foreseeable future.

EDGE Analysis
Tauchman got the scoring started, delivering his first home run of the season to lead off the game for the Cubs in the bottom of the first inning. He also delivered his third stolen base of the season later in the contest. The veteran is seeing regular playing time in center field even with Cody Bellinger back, as the latter is seeing time at first base with Matt Mervis back in the minors. As long as Bellinger plays at first, Tauchman may be the top option in center, and he figures to keep leading off as well.

EDGE Analysis
Tauchman was the ideal leadoff hitter in this one, reaching base on three singles ahead of the heart of the Cubs' order. The outfielder made his team debut on May 19 and has carved out a role with Cody Bellinger (knee) on the injured list. Tauchman is now batting .299 and should continue to earn regular playing time as long as Bellinger is out.
